Icelandic Language Expert for AI Content Review
Overview
In this hourly remote contractor role with SME Careers, you review AI-generated Icelandic content and generate high quality reference materials. You assess accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, and cultural fit, delivering precise feedback in both Icelandic and English. You rate multiple AI responses for correctness and overall quality, and you craft model answers that demonstrate best practices in Icelandic writing. This work fuels AI training data to improve the naturalness, reliability, and cultural relevance of Icelandic outputs. There is currently no active project, but qualified experts will be invited to future opportunities.
What You'll Do6
- 1Design Icelandic prompts and gold-standard responses across domains such as general knowledge, customer support, education, and conversational writing.
- 2Evaluate AI outputs for fluency, accuracy, tone alignment, and cultural appropriateness to guide model improvements.
- 3Identify unsafe content, factual hallucinations, bias, and policy-risk language; verify reliability across use cases.
- 4Produce high-quality rewrites and model answers that illustrate best practices in Icelandic writing.
- 5Document language guidance and contribute to style guidelines and terminology standards within the project workspace.
- 6Collaborate with AI/ML, product, and QA teams to ensure consistent terminology for UI localization and product localization.
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor’s degree or higher in linguistics, Icelandic or English literature, communications, journalism, translation, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 2Native or near-native Icelandic proficiency with strong reading and writing.
- 3Strong professional English proficiency (minimum C1) to follow guidelines and provide feedback in English.
- 43+ years of professional experience in writing, editing, localization, translation, content QA, journalism, education, or related language-focused work.
- 5Deep understanding of Icelandic grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style; able to explain fixes clearly.
- 6Comfort with multiple registers (formal/informal) and consistent terminology for product/UI localization.
- 7High attention to detail and ability to spot subtle meaning shifts, awkward translations, or culturally mismatched phrasing.
- 8Reliable, self-directed, and able to deliver consistent quality in an hourly remote contractor workflow across time zones.
- 9Prior experience with AI data training/annotation, translation QA, editorial QA, or rubric-based evaluation is strongly preferred.
