Overview
As a remote hourly contractor, you oversee Finnish language quality across AI training projects, guiding a distributed team of trainers and QA specialists. You review AI-generated Finnish content and trainer outputs against project rubrics to ensure accuracy, fluency, and culturally appropriate tone. You build and maintain project documentation including style guides and onboarding materials to keep everyone aligned. You mentor and activate contributors, tightening QA workflows and ensuring consistent standards across remote teams.
What You'll Do8
- 1Spot-check Finnish content and provide precise written feedback to trainers via direct messages, flagging quality issues and recurring patterns.
- 2Relay updates about new item guidelines, project changes, and quality expectations to trainers and QAs on Discord.
- 3Answer questions on Finnish wording, grammar, tone, selkokieli requirements, and cultural context with clear guidance.
- 4Manage activation of contributors by direct messages, track follow-ups, and flag availability gaps as needed.
- 5Create and maintain Finnish project documentation, including style guides, FAQs, trackers, onboarding materials, and quality notes.
- 6Plan and lead onboarding sessions that explain project expectations, rubrics, and Finnish language requirements to new trainers.
- 7Ensure consistent application of Finnish guidelines across all trainers and QAs as projects evolve.
- 8Identify recurring quality gaps, propose workflow improvements, and help scale QA processes for Finnish-language work.
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finnish, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism, English, Education, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
- 2Native or near-native Finnish proficiency with strong reading and writing skills, plus strong English.
- 33+ years of professional experience in Finnish writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, annotation, or related language-review workflows.
- 4Strong understanding of Finnish grammar, spelling conventions, punctuation, tone, register, cultural context, compounds, case endings, and word order.
- 5Comfortable handling standard Finnish vs selkokieli when required, including tone and accessibility considerations.
- 6Ability to evaluate Finnish content against detailed rubrics and identify issues such as mistranslation, unnatural tone, hallucinated claims, ambiguity, incorrect case usage, or inconsistent terminology.
- 7Experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, or QAs is strongly preferred.
- 8Comfortable working in fast-moving remote environments using tools such as Discord, Google Sheets, and Google Docs.
- 9Experience with AI training, data annotation, large language models, prompt/response evaluation, or rubric-based LLM QA is a strong plus.
