Overview

Working remotely, you lead quality across art history, cultural studies, and visual culture content used to train AI models. You review AI-generated humanities outputs and deliver precise, rubric-guided feedback to trainers and QAs via Discord. You also maintain project documentation, calibration tasks, and onboarding materials to keep contributors aligned with evolving guidelines. Your work supports leading AI models by ensuring accurate historical context, nuanced visual analysis, and respectful representation.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Monitor art history and cultural studies items for quality; provide direct feedback to contributors via Discord messages and escalate persistent issues.
  • 2Evaluate AI-generated art historical explanations, visual analyses, and museum-style descriptions against rubrics for accuracy and nuance.
  • 3Keep trainers and QAs aligned by posting guideline updates and workflow changes on Discord, ensuring guidelines translate into actionable tasks.
  • 4Answer trainer and QA questions with clear, prompt guidance on attribution, periodization, cultural context, and ethics.
  • 5Proactively reach out to inactive contributors; track follow-ups and flag availability issues.
  • 6Create and maintain project documentation, including style guides, trackers, FAQs, calibration tasks, and onboarding materials.
  • 7Lead onboarding sessions with trainers and QAs to explain expectations, rubrics, and review requirements.
  • 8Ensure consistent application of art history and cultural studies review guidelines as projects evolve.
  • 9Identify and flag biased, Eurocentric, decontextualized, or misattributed claims about art and culture.
  • 10Suggest workflow improvements to scale QA processes for humanities AI training projects.

Requirements10

  • 1Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Art History, Cultural Studies, Visual Culture, Museum Studies, Humanities, Fine Arts, Comparative Literature, Media Studies, Anthropology, History, or related field.
  • 2Strong English language skills to follow project guidelines, communicate with teams, and provide clear feedback.
  • 33+ years of experience in art historical research, cultural analysis, museum/curatorial work, teaching, academic writing, visual analysis, editing, or related humanities workflows.
  • 4Solid understanding of art historical methods, iconography, periodization, style, patronage, materials, museum ethics, cultural theory, representation, and historical context.
  • 5Ability to evaluate content against rubrics and identify misattribution, incorrect periodization, weak visual analysis, cultural stereotyping, or decontextualized claims.
  • 6Familiarity with ancient to modern art, non-Western art histories, photography, film, postcolonial theory, gender studies, museum studies, or heritage studies is preferred.
  • 7Experience leading or supporting remote teams of researchers, writers, reviewers, educators, curators, annotators, or QAs is strongly preferred.
  • 8Comfort working in fast-moving remote environments using Discord, Google Docs, Google Sheets, trackers, dashboards, and project management systems.
  • 9Highly detail-oriented and organized, with ability to maintain style guides, FAQs, trackers, onboarding materials, calibration tasks, and documentation.
  • 10Experience with AI training, data annotation, LLM evaluation, humanities QA, cultural sensitivity review, image/content review, or rubric-based review is a strong plus.

Who Should Apply

Candidates with a deep background in art history or cultural studies and a proven track record in remote QA leadership will excel. You should be comfortable guiding diverse contributors, applying rubrics, and documenting guidelines clearly. This role is less suitable for individuals without 3+ years of domain experience or those uncomfortable with remote collaboration tools such as Discord and Google Docs. Candidates who lack exposure to AI training data or rubric-based review may score lower on fit.
