
History QA Lead for AI Training (Remote Contract)
Overview
In this hourly remote contractor role, you will oversee quality, consistency, and trainer performance across history-focused AI training projects. You will review AI-generated history explanations, timelines, and source-based answers for accuracy, context, and balance, providing precise written feedback. You will ensure contributors follow project rubrics and maintain thorough documentation and onboarding materials. Strong English communication and remote collaboration with a distributed team of trainers and QAs are essential.
What You'll Do10
- 1Quality monitoring: spot-check history items, identify quality issues, and provide ongoing feedback to contributors via direct messages, escalating recurring concerns.
- 2Historical review: assess AI-generated explanations, timelines, source-based answers, and reasoning for accuracy, context, balance, and clarity.
- 3Trainer and QA communication: share guidelines and project updates on Discord, aligning trainers and QAs with quality expectations.
- 4Question handling: respond clearly to questions about chronology, historical context, source interpretation, and rubric interpretation.
- 5Activation management: reach out to inactive contributors, encourage participation, track follow-ups, and flag availability issues.
- 6Documentation: create and maintain history project docs, including style guides, trackers, FAQs, quality notes, and onboarding materials.
- 7Onboarding and training: schedule onboarding calls with trainers and QAs to explain workflows, rubrics, and review requirements.
- 8Quality alignment: ensure consistent application of historical-review guidelines across projects.
- 9Risk and bias review: flag biased, anachronistic, or poorly sourced historical claims.
- 10Process improvement: identify quality gaps and propose scalable QA processes for history AI training projects.
Requirements10
- 1Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in History, Classics, Area Studies, Archaeology, Political History, Cultural History, International Relations, Humanities, or a closely related field.
- 2Strong command of English to follow guidelines, communicate with teams, and provide clear written feedback.
- 33+ years in historical research, teaching, writing, editing, academic review, or related humanities workflows.
- 4Solid understanding of historical methods, chronology, primary vs secondary sources, historiography, causation, continuity/change, regional context, and evidence-based interpretation.
- 5Ability to evaluate content against rubrics and identify anachronisms, incorrect chronology, unsupported claims, bias, or misleading citations.
- 6Familiarity with ancient, medieval, modern, world, military, intellectual, social, economic, colonial/postcolonial, or regional history.
- 7Experience leading or supporting remote teams of researchers, writers, reviewers, educators, annotators, or QAs.
- 8Comfort working in fast-moving remote environments using Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management tools.
- 9Highly detail-oriented and organized with the ability to maintain style guides, FAQs, trackers, onboarding materials, and calibration tasks.
- 10Experience with AI training, data annotation, LLM evaluation, academic QA, fact-checking, or rubric-based review is a strong plus.
