Overview

Turing, a San Francisco-based research accelerator for frontier AI labs, seeks a Senior JavaScript/React Engineer to create and refine code datasets for training and benchmarking large language models. You will work across Python and JavaScript (React, Node.js), and also in C/C++, Java, Rust, and Go, evaluating AI-generated code for efficiency, scalability, and reliability. The role involves building agents that verify code quality, designing automated verification mechanisms, and hypothesizing on software engineering cycle steps to assess model capabilities. This is a flexible contractor position requiring at least 10 hours per week, with a duration of one month and potential extension.

What You'll Do7

  • Curate code examples and build solutions in Python and JavaScript (React, Node.js), plus C/C++, Java, Rust, and Go, for AI model training.
  • Evaluate and refine AI-generated code across backend and frontend to ensure efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve AI-driven coding solutions against industry performance benchmarks.
  • Build agents that verify code quality and detect error patterns in full-stack applications.
  • Hypothesize on software engineering cycle steps (prototyping, architecture design, API design, production implementation, launch, experiments, monitoring, maintenance) and evaluate model capabilities.
  • Design automated verification mechanisms for software engineering tasks.
  • Provide precise solutions and corrections across the full stack.

Requirements6

  • 3+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Strong expertise in full-stack development with Python and JavaScript (React, Node.js).
  • Experience deploying scalable, production-grade software using modern languages and tools.
  • Deep understanding of software architecture, design, development, debugging, and code quality assessment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for structured evaluation rationales.
  • Must be based in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications2

  • Experience at high-growth companies like Stripe, Airbnb, Cloudflare, Datadog, or Coinbase.
  • Graduation from strong CS programs such as University of Washington, UIUC, UT Austin, University of Michigan, or Purdue.

Who Should Apply

Candidates with at least 3 years of software engineering experience and strong full-stack skills in Python and JavaScript (React, Node.js) who reside in the US. The role suits engineers who have shipped production-grade software and can evaluate and refine AI-generated code with clear communication.
