Overview

Turing, a San Francisco-based research accelerator for frontier AI labs, seeks a Senior JavaScript/React Engineer to craft and refine code examples that train and benchmark large language models. You will work across Python and JavaScript (React, Node.js), plus other languages like C/C++, Java, Rust, and Go, evaluating AI-generated code for efficiency, scalability, and reliability. The role involves building agents that verify code quality and designing mechanisms to automatically assess solutions to software engineering tasks. This is a flexible contractor position requiring a minimum of 10 hours per week, with up to 40 hours available, for an initial one-month term that may extend based on performance.

What You'll Do8

  • Curate code examples and build solutions across Python and JavaScript (React, Node.js), with additional work in C/C++, Java, Rust, and Go.
  • Evaluate and refine AI-generated code in backend and frontend contexts to ensure it is efficient, scalable, and reliable.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve AI-driven coding solutions against industry performance benchmarks.
  • Build agents that verify code quality and identify error patterns across full-stack applications.
  • Hypothesize on steps in the software engineering cycle, such as prototyping, architecture design, API design, production implementation, launch, experiments, monitoring, and operational maintenance, and evaluate model capabilities on them.
  • Design verification mechanisms that automatically verify solutions to software engineering tasks.
  • Provide precise solutions and make corrections across the full stack.
  • Work closely with researchers to create datasets for training, benchmarking, and advancing large language models.

Requirements5

  • 3+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Strong expertise in building full-stack applications using Python and JavaScript (React, Node.js), with the ability to work across backend and frontend codebases.
  • Experience deploying scalable, production-grade software using modern languages and tools.
  • Deep understanding of software architecture, design, development, debugging, and code quality/review assessment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for clear, structured evaluation rationales.

Preferred Qualifications2

  • Experience at frontier AI companies such as OpenAI, NVIDIA, Databricks, Palantir, Snowflake, or similar organizations.
  • Graduation from top computer science programs such as Stanford, MIT, Carnegie Mellon, UC Berkeley, Georgia Tech, or comparable institutions.

Who Should Apply

Candidates with at least 3 years of software engineering experience and strong full-stack skills in Python and JavaScript (React, Node.js). The role suits engineers who have worked at frontier AI companies or graduated from top CS programs, and who can communicate structured evaluation rationales clearly.
