Overview

Turing, a research accelerator for frontier AI labs, needs a senior engineer to build datasets that train and benchmark large language models. You will work with Python, C/C++, Rust, Go, Java, and JavaScript/ReactJS, focusing on systems-level code, performance-critical applications, and infrastructure. Your day involves curating code examples, refining AI-generated code for correctness and reliability, and designing verification mechanisms. The engagement is flexible, minimum 10 hours per week up to 40, for one month with possible extension.

What You'll Do8

  • Create and curate code examples in Python, C/C++, Rust, Go, Java, and JavaScript (including ReactJS) for AI model training.
  • Evaluate and improve AI-generated code with a focus on systems-level correctness, performance, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance AI-driven coding solutions against industry benchmarks.
  • Build agents that verify the quality of systems-level and infrastructure code and identify error patterns.
  • Hypothesize on steps in the software engineering cycle (prototyping, architecture design, API design, production implementation, launch, experiments, monitoring, operational maintenance) and assess model capabilities on them.
  • Design verification mechanisms that automatically check solutions to software engineering tasks.
  • Provide precise solutions and corrections to code in the listed languages.
  • Work closely with researchers to advance large language models.

Requirements6

  • 3+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Strong expertise in systems programming, infrastructure, or backend development using languages like Python, C/C++, Rust, and Go.
  • Experience building and deploying scalable, production-grade software using modern languages and tools.
  • Deep understanding of software architecture, design, development, debugging, and code quality/review assessment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for clear, structured evaluation rationales.
  • Must be based in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications2

  • Experience at high-growth companies like Stripe, Airbnb, Cloudflare, Datadog, or Coinbase.
  • Graduation from top computer science programs such as Stanford, MIT, Carnegie Mellon, UC Berkeley, or Georgia Tech.

Who Should Apply

Candidates with at least 3 years of software engineering experience, particularly in systems programming or backend development, and strong skills in Python, C/C++, Rust, Go, Java, and JavaScript/ReactJS. The role suits engineers who have shipped production-grade software and can communicate technical evaluations clearly.
