Senior Field Service Technician
Listing checked September 29, 2026 · pay as published by Micro1
Overview
micro1 seeks experienced Field Service Technicians to support a customer's technical project. Your practical knowledge will help train next-generation AI systems, with no prior AI experience needed. You will review electrical schematics, hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams, and PLC logic to diagnose faults across industrial, HVAC, elevator, and heavy equipment. This is a remote contractor role with flexible hours and competitive pay.
What You'll Do7
- 1Interpret complex electrical schematics, hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams to evaluate equipment function and trace fault pathways.
- 2Diagnose performance issues and faults in industrial, HVAC, elevator, heavy equipment, marine, rail, utility, or telecom systems using technical documentation.
- 3Analyze PLC logic and industrial controls to pinpoint root causes and recommend evidence-based fixes.
- 4Write clear, detailed reports of troubleshooting steps, findings, and corrective actions for AI model training.
- 5Assess compliance with US codes (NFPA 70/79, ASME A17.1, OSHA) and point out code-specific requirements from real scenarios.
- 6Explain technical concepts and diagnostic reasoning in writing and speech for varied audiences.
- 7Offer expert commentary on maintenance, service, and repair strategies drawn from extensive field experience.
Requirements7
- 18+ years of hands-on troubleshooting experience with industrial, HVAC, elevator, hydraulic, heavy vehicle, marine, rail, utility, or telecom equipment.
- 2Advanced ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and hydraulic/pneumatic layouts.
- 3Deep familiarity with PLC programming, industrial controls, and fault-finding methods.
- 4Strong working knowledge of US safety and operational codes (NFPA 70/79, ASME A17.1, OSHA).
- 5Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a knack for turning complex diagnostics into clear documentation.
- 6Proven capacity to analyze technical information and produce expert-level insights.
- 7Experience authoring technical service reports or instructions is a plus.
Who Should Apply
This role fits technicians with at least eight years of hands-on troubleshooting across industrial, HVAC, elevator, or heavy equipment, who can read schematics and PLC logic and explain their reasoning in writing. If you have deep field experience and want to apply it to AI training without needing AI background, this is for you. It is less suitable for those early in their career or without direct experience diagnosing faults from technical documentation. Candidates often get rejected when they cannot show specific examples of interpreting schematics or PLC logic, or when their written communication lacks clarity and detail.
