Electrical Engineer Remote Contract (Associate)
Overview
In this remote contract role, you evaluate AI-generated electrical engineering content for technical accuracy, logical soundness, and completeness across circuit design, power systems, and control systems. You'll challenge models with realistic EE scenarios and calculations using SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, and oscilloscope data to reflect real-world constraints. You help refine prompts and model explanations to emphasize safety and EMC/EMI compliance in technical content. This role supports SME Careers as it connects expert engineers with opportunities in AI data services through our expert network.
What You'll Do7
- 1Review AI-generated content for accuracy in circuit design, power systems, and controls, and provide concrete corrections.
- 2Challenge models with realistic electrical engineering scenarios and calculations using SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, and oscilloscope data to test model reasoning.
- 3Refine prompts and explanations to highlight correct units, assumptions, and safety considerations in EMC/EMI and grounding contexts.
- 4Document assessment results and offer guidance to improve model performance on topics like circuit analysis, power electronics, and embedded systems.
- 5Provide actionable feedback to ensure AI content aligns with responsible engineering practices and real-world feasibility.
- 6Collaborate with data teams to define standards for technical EE content and model explanations.
- 7Maintain ongoing awareness of safety, compliance, and professional judgment in all evaluations.
Requirements6
- 14+ years of professional electrical engineering experience with hands-on work in one or more areas such as power systems, power electronics, embedded systems, analog/digital circuit design, or RF/communications.
- 2Deep knowledge of fundamentals including circuit analysis, electromagnetics, signals and systems, and safe engineering practices (grounding, isolation, protection, EMC/EMI).
- 3Strong comfort with engineering calculations, assumptions, constraints, unit consistency, and defensible reasoning.
- 4Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s/PhD, PE/Chartered, or advanced professional certifications strongly preferred.
- 5Previous experience with AI data training, annotation, red-teaming, or evaluating AI-generated technical content is a strong plus.
- 6Familiarity with tools such as schematics, SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, PCB design, oscilloscopes, and test reports.
Who Should Apply
Ideal candidates bring a solid electrical engineering background with hands-on depth in circuits, power, and systems, plus a track record evaluating technical content. This role suits engineers who excel at precise analysis, can clearly articulate safety and compliance concerns, and have experience with tools like SPICE or MATLAB/Simulink. It may be less suitable for applicants lacking strong fundamentals in circuit analysis or those seeking long-term, full-time work rather than contract opportunities. Note that there is no immediate project; qualified experts will be contacted when relevant opportunities arise through our expert network.
Salary Insight
Pay: $100/hr. This associate-level, contract compensation reflects specialized EE evaluation work done remotely; compensation is discussed as opportunities arise.
