Listing checked September 29, 2026 · pay as published by Micro1
Overview
micro1 seeks seasoned Senior Machinists and Construction & Field Operations Leads to support a customer project centered on technical drawing comprehension and field plan execution. Your practical knowledge will help train next-generation AI systems, shaping how models learn and reason from real-world input. No AI background is needed. This contractor role is remote, with a preference for US-based candidates. You will review machining drawings, GD&T specs, CNC documentation, construction sheets, drilling and mine plans, and fire and building plans.
What You'll Do7
- 1Examine advanced machining drawings and GD&T specifications, then provide detailed feedback grounded in real shop experience.
- 2Assess CNC setup and programming documentation, sharing insights on best practices and common troubleshooting scenarios.
- 3Review construction plan sheets to spot potential issues, missing details, or areas needing clearer presentation based on field knowledge.
- 4Interpret drilling and mine plans, evaluating accuracy, feasibility, and regulatory factors using industry expertise.
- 5Conduct fire and building plan reviews, referencing applicable US codes and standards to confirm safety and compliance in your recommendations.
- 6Deliver precise written and verbal explanations of technical concepts, field implementation, and drawing interpretations as part of project deliverables.
- 7Apply domain-specific expertise so project outcomes reflect authentic, real-world practices.
Requirements7
- 110+ years of experience as a master machinist, construction superintendent, drilling engineer, mine planner, cabinetmaker, or fire officer, with a strong record of interpreting technical drawings and field plans.
- 2Comprehensive understanding of US construction, fire, or mining codes and standards.
- 3Expertise in CNC programming, machining processes, and GD&T application.
- 4Proven ability to analyze and explain complex field or shop scenarios in written and verbal formats.
- 5Experience reviewing fire and building plans with a focus on safety and regulatory compliance.
- 6Comfort working independently on remote projects and delivering high-quality, detail-oriented input.
- 7Strong commitment to clear, concise, and effective communication that supports knowledge transfer and guidance.
Who Should Apply
The ideal candidate brings at least a decade of hands-on experience as a master machinist, construction superintendent, drilling engineer, mine planner, cabinetmaker, or fire officer, and can read technical drawings and field plans with ease. You should be comfortable explaining complex shop or field scenarios in writing and speech, and you know US construction, fire, or mining codes well. This role is less suitable for someone without deep domain experience or for those who prefer collaborative, office-based work. Candidates often get rejected when they lack direct experience with GD&T or CNC programming, or when they cannot provide clear, detailed written explanations of technical concepts.
