Overview

Mercor runs this project alongside a leading research lab, and the work centers on how well a large language model handles Russian. You will judge model output across tasks such as translation, summarization, dialogue, and grammar correction, then edit or rewrite Russian text so it meets native linguistic and cultural standards. Annotation sits at the core of the job: tagging grammatical, syntactic, and semantic features, flagging errors and gaps in the model's Russian, and writing up feedback that researchers use in the next training round. The engagement is part-time and fully remote, paid at $50.00/hr.

What You'll Do6

  • Review Russian text produced by the model and score its accuracy and quality across translation, summarization, dialogue, and grammar correction tasks.
  • Edit, refine, or rewrite Russian content so it reads naturally and meets cultural and linguistic norms.
  • Annotate Russian passages for grammatical, syntactic, and semantic features.
  • Spot errors, unnatural phrasing, and coverage gaps in the model's Russian output, then document them clearly.
  • Pass structured linguistic feedback to AI researchers and discuss findings that shape the next round of training.
  • Apply consistent judgment across a large volume of samples so annotations stay comparable from batch to batch.

Requirements6

  • Native or near-native Russian, backed by strong command of grammar, syntax, and stylistics.
  • Professional background in translation, editing, linguistic annotation, or NLP data work carried out in Russian.
  • Working knowledge of regional variation and register, and the judgment to pick usage that fits the context.
  • Keen eye for subtle mistakes and phrasing that sounds off to a native reader.
  • Comfort working in a distributed, remote team and explaining linguistic findings in clear written form.
  • Interest in AI and LLM-based language technology helps, though the team does not require it.

Who Should Apply

Russian linguists with professional translation, editing, or annotation experience who want their language judgment to shape how a large language model handles Russian. If you notice awkward phrasing and grammatical slips fast, and you can explain why they matter, this project uses that skill directly.

Salary Insight

The rate is $50.00/hr, and hours are part-time rather than a fixed weekly schedule, so earnings track the time you actually log. For Russian-language annotation and evaluation work on LLM projects, that figure sits at the stronger end and usually matches candidates who bring professional translation or annotation experience rather than casual fluency.
