Overview

Mercor pairs experienced Arabic linguists with a research lab to sharpen how large language models handle Arabic text. Day to day, you judge model output on tasks such as translation, summarization, dialogue, and grammar correction, then flag the gaps you find. You also build and refine the Arabic data that feeds training, annotating syntax, grammar, and meaning-level features the model must learn. Researchers rely on your written feedback to decide what gets fixed next. Work happens remotely, paid on an hourly basis.

What You'll Do7

  • Review Arabic text produced by a large language model and rate its accuracy and quality across translation, summarization, dialogue, and grammar correction cases.
  • Rewrite, edit, or correct Arabic content so it meets native-level linguistic and cultural expectations.
  • Tag Arabic passages for grammatical, syntactic, and semantic properties using the project's annotation guidelines.
  • Document recurring model mistakes and language gaps, then share those findings with the AI research team.
  • Write detailed linguistic assessments that inform the next round of model training.
  • Check regional variation and context fit so the model does not produce phrasing that reads as unnatural to native speakers.
  • Keep annotation decisions consistent across batches so the dataset holds up under researcher review.

Requirements7

  • Native or near-native Arabic fluency, with firm command of grammar, syntax, and stylistics.
  • Professional background in Arabic translation, editing, linguistic annotation, or NLP data work.
  • Sharp eye for subtle errors, awkward phrasing, and context that does not fit the dialect or region.
  • Ability to explain linguistic judgments in clear written feedback that researchers can act on.
  • Comfort working with a distributed, remote team and keeping to shared annotation standards.
  • Interest in AI and language model technology is a plus, not a gate.
  • Track record of consistent, detail-level output on language data projects.

Who Should Apply

Arabic linguists with professional translation, editing, or annotation experience who want their language judgment to shape how a model writes and speaks. If you can spot an unnatural phrase and explain exactly why it fails, this project needs that skill.

Salary Insight

The rate is $50.00/hr, paid hourly for the work you log. That sits well above typical freelance Arabic translation and annotation pay, and it usually matches linguists who bring prior NLP data or annotation project experience rather than general translation alone.
