As a Maltese QA Lead, you oversee quality and consistency across remote AI training projects, evaluating Maltese output against documented rubrics. You provide precise written feedback on Maltese content and guide trainers to align with project standards. Maintaining style guides and project documentation, you ensure onboarding materials, trackers, FAQs, and quality notes stay current. Communication flows through Discord and Google Docs/Google Sheets as part of a distributed, remote team.
What You'll Do9
- 1Spot-check Maltese content and trainer outputs, identify quality issues, and provide ongoing feedback via direct messages while escalating recurring concerns.
- 2Update trainers and QAs on Discord about new item guidelines, project changes, workflow updates, and quality expectations.
- 3Respond to trainer and QA questions clearly and promptly, especially around Maltese wording, grammar, diacritics, tone, translation fidelity, English or Italian code-switching, cultural context, terminology, and edge cases.
- 4DM contributors who are inactive, encourage activation, track follow-ups, and flag availability issues when needed.
- 5Create and maintain Maltese project documentation, including style guides, trackers, FAQs, quality notes, examples, honeypots, and onboarding materials.
- 6Schedule and run onboarding and training calls with trainers and QAs to explain project expectations, workflows, rubrics, quality standards, and Maltese-specific style requirements.
- 7Ensure all trainers and QAs apply Maltese language guidelines consistently and understand updates as projects evolve.
- 8Identify recurring quality gaps, propose workflow improvements, and help build scalable QA processes for Maltese-language projects.
- 9Oversee quality alignment across teams and ensure adherence to rubrics and cultural context.
Requirements10
- 1Bachelor's or Master's degree in Maltese, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism, English, Education, Quality Assurance, or related field.
- 2Native or near-native Maltese proficiency with strong reading and writing skills.
- 3Strong English language skills to follow guidelines, communicate with teams, and provide clear feedback.
- 43+ years of professional experience in Maltese writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, annotation, or related language-review workflows.
- 5Deep understanding of Maltese grammar, spelling, punctuation, diacritics, Semitic/Romance-influenced structures, tone, register, code-switching, and cultural context.
- 6Ability to evaluate Maltese content against rubrics and identify issues such as mistranslation, literal phrasing, unnatural tone, incorrect code-switching, missing diacritics, hallucinated claims, ambiguity, or inconsistent terminology.
- 7Experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, editors, or QAs is strongly preferred.
- 8Comfortable working in fast-moving remote environments using Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management systems.
- 9Highly detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to maintain style guides, FAQs, trackers, onboarding materials, honeypots, and other quality documentation.
- 10Experience with AI training, data annotation, large language models, prompt/response evaluation, or rubric-based LLM QA is a strong plus.
