Overview
Remote hourly contractor role as a Latvian Language Expert focused on AI content quality. You will review AI-generated Latvian text and create high quality Latvian reference material. You will assess language quality and step-by-step reasoning while providing precise written feedback in English. Native or near native Latvian with strong English proficiency and at least three years in editing, translation, or localization roles.
What You'll Do5
- 1Develop AI training content in Latvian by crafting prompts and gold-standard answers across domains such as general knowledge, customer support, education, conversational writing, translation, localization, and culturally sensitive content.
- 2Evaluate AI outputs for fluency and tone alignment, preserving meaning and improving terminology quality across multiple samples.
- 3Identify unsafe content, bias, mistranslations, ambiguity, and culturally inappropriate phrasing; validate reliability across use cases.
- 4Create high quality rewrites and model answers that reflect strong Latvian writing practices and clear explanations of fixes.
- 5Rate and compare multiple AI responses to determine accuracy and overall quality, guiding improvements in prompts and rubrics.
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor's degree or higher in linguistics, Latvian language, Latvian literature, English literature, communications, journalism, translation, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 2Native or near-native Latvian proficiency with strong reading and writing skills.
- 3Professional English proficiency at C1 or higher to follow guidelines and provide feedback in English.
- 43+ years of writing, editing, localization, translation, content QA, journalism, education, or other language-focused work.
- 5Deep knowledge of Latvian grammar, spelling, punctuation, diacritics, declension, conjugation, word order, tone, and style, with ability to explain corrections.
- 6Comfort with multiple registers including formal, neutral, conversational, professional, educational, and public-facing Latvian depending on project needs.
- 7Attention to subtle meaning shifts, awkward translations, incorrect endings, agreement errors, or culturally mismatched phrasing.
- 8Reliable, self directed, able to work remotely across time zones with consistent quality.
- 9Experience with AI data training or QA, rubric-based evaluation, or localization QA is highly preferred.
