Overview

A contractor role for a Hospitalist physician to contribute remotely on inpatient care documentation projects. You’ll review medical records, including FHIR data and clinical notes, to verify that clinical information and claims are supported by the chart. The work involves assessing inpatient documentation such as HPI, past medical history, assessments, and plans, while applying clear guidelines consistently. You’ll provide feedback to improve AI training data quality and communicate findings with the project team. The engagement centers on real-world input to help AI models learn hospital workflows and documentation standards. Bold areas where your expertise matters include FHIR data, inpatient documentation, and clinical notes.

What You'll Do7

  • 1Evaluate medical records and FHIR data for AI training inputs.
  • 2Verify that clinical information and claims are backed by the medical record.
  • 3Assess inpatient documentation including HPI, PMH, assessments, and plans for accuracy.
  • 4Adhere to defined guidelines and maintain consistency across records.
  • 5Identify gaps, errors, or inconsistencies in documentation and flag them.
  • 6Provide constructive feedback to improve AI model outputs and data quality.
  • 7Communicate clearly with the project team about findings and state implications.

Requirements7

  • 1MD or DO with board certification in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or Hospital Medicine.
  • 2Active or recent inpatient/hospitalist experience within the last 2 years.
  • 3Solid grasp of inpatient documentation and hospital workflows.
  • 4Ability to review clinical notes and raw medical record data attentively.
  • 5Strong attention to detail and a track record with following clear guidelines.
  • 6Experience in chart review, clinical documentation improvement, utilization review, or medical coding/QA is a plus.
  • 7Experience working across multiple inpatient services or specialties is beneficial.

Who Should Apply

The ideal candidate is a board-certified physician with recent inpatient experience who can confidently review notes, PMH, HPI, and plans for accuracy and consistency. This role may not be suitable for physicians without recent hospitalist exposure or those uncomfortable handling raw medical data for AI training. Common fit concerns include limited familiarity with inpatient documentation standards or difficulty following explicit guidelines. Expect scrutiny on attention to detail and the ability to communicate findings clearly to a multidisciplinary team.
