Overview
Elion Health is seeking an experienced Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) leader to help shape the next generation of AI tools for healthcare documentation. In this contract role, you’ll apply your deep expertise in DRG optimization, HCC risk adjustment, and physician query management to evaluate and improve AI systems that enhance coding accuracy and revenue integrity. You’ll work remotely with a leading AI research lab, providing clinical insights that directly influence how AI supports documentation quality and compliance.
What You'll Do9
- 1Oversee CDI programs for both inpatient and outpatient settings, managing concurrent and retrospective review processes.
- 2Assess AI-generated suggestions for clinical documentation improvement, physician queries, and coding recommendations to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- 3Review clinical records to confirm proper capture of diagnoses, procedures, severity of illness, and risk of mortality.
- 4Create and refine physician query processes that adhere to AHIMA and ACDIS standards.
- 5Track and report key CDI metrics such as query response rates, CC/MCC capture, case mix index, and DRG accuracy.
- 6Partner with coding, compliance, and clinical teams to resolve documentation gaps and enhance query workflows.
- 7Educate physicians and clinical staff on documentation best practices and regulatory requirements.
- 8Ensure all work aligns with Official Coding Guidelines, CMS regulations, and payer-specific policies.
- 9Annotate AI outputs and provide structured clinical feedback to help train AI models.
Requirements8
- 1At least 5 years in clinical documentation integrity or improvement, with a minimum of 2 years in a managerial or leadership capacity.
- 2Strong command of MS-DRG methodology, CC/MCC hierarchies, and ICD-10-CM/PCS coding guidelines.
- 3Proven ability to manage physician queries in line with AHIMA and ACDIS compliant standards.
- 4Solid clinical background allowing you to interpret medical records and identify documentation gaps.
- 5Hands-on experience with CDI platforms such as 3M, Nuance, Optum360, or similar, plus EHR systems.
- 6Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- 7Sharp attention to detail when evaluating clinical documentation and AI-generated outputs.
- 8Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment.
