Mechanical Engineer Remote Contract for AI Data Training
Overview
Remote, hourly contract for a mechanical engineering specialist focused on AI data training workflows. You will review AI-generated engineering solutions and craft expert mechanical engineering content to guide model learning. Assess reasoning quality and step-by-step problem solving, delivering concise written feedback that improves accuracy and clarity. This role supports SME Careers in delivering training data for leading AI labs and foundation models.
What You'll Do6
- 1Review AI-generated mechanical engineering solutions and provide written feedback on reasoning quality and step-by-step problem solving.
- 2Create detailed prompts and AI data training content to guide model learning across topics.
- 3Evaluate AI responses for accuracy, clarity, and contextual relevance, and rank results to drive improvements.
- 4Identify inaccuracies, biases, or methodological flaws in solutions and document corrections.
- 5Draft high-quality explanations and model solutions to accompany training data.
- 6Record assessments and cross-review multiple responses to support ongoing model improvement.
Requirements7
- 1Bachelor's degree (Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Engineering Physics with a focus on thermo/heat transfer/fluids/statics-dynamics/differential equations).
- 2Strong fundamentals in mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, applied physics, engineering math, and system modeling.
- 3Ability to evaluate technical solutions for correctness, dimensional consistency, assumptions, and physical plausibility with high attention to detail.
- 4Clear written explanations of reasoning and corrections; English proficiency at C1 level or higher.
- 5Experience applying basic design principles (requirements, constraints, margins, trade-offs) in real engineering contexts.
- 6Reliable, self-directed, able to deliver consistent quality in an hourly remote contractor workflow across time zones.
- 7Prior experience with AI data training/annotation or technical reviewing is strongly preferred.
Who Should Apply
Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s or higher in a relevant engineering discipline with solid grounding in thermal-fluid topics and modeling. You thrive dissecting technical proposals for correctness and physical plausibility and you can explain complex reasoning in precise English. Experience with AI data training or technical review is a strong plus, and you can work effectively in a remote, hourly contractor setup across time zones. This role may be less suitable for applicants seeking on-site or full-time employment, or those without documented remote-contract experience or English proficiency at C1.
Salary Insight
Pay is $70/hr. This hourly rate aligns with remote, mid-senior contractor work on specialized engineering and AI data tasks.
