As a remote Croatian Language Expert, you review content written in Croatian and craft authoritative reference material for model training. You will develop prompts and gold-standard Croatian responses across domains like general knowledge, customer support, and education, feeding AI training data. You evaluate outputs for fluency, accuracy, tone, and cultural fit, delivering precise written feedback in English and supporting translation QA and localization QA workflows. Your work strengthens Croatian language outputs and guides quality improvements across AI data pipelines.
What You'll Do7
- 1Create prompts and gold-standard Croatian responses across domains such as general knowledge, customer support, and education to feed into AI training data.
- 2Evaluate AI outputs for fluency, accuracy, tone, meaning preservation, and cultural appropriateness, using a rubric to score quality.
- 3Identify unsafe or misleading content, mistranslations, bias, ambiguity, or culturally mismatched phrasing and propose precise fixes.
- 4Produce high-quality rewrites and model answers that demonstrate best practices in Croatian writing.
- 5Rate and compare multiple AI responses, delivering clear, English-language feedback that informs model improvements.
- 6Document guidelines and contribute to process improvements in prompt creation, evaluation, and QA workflows.
- 7Collaborate asynchronously with distributed teams to ensure consistent results across time zones.
Requirements9
- 1Advanced degree in linguistics, Croatian language, Croatian literature, English literature, communications, journalism, translation, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 2Native or near-native proficiency in Croatian with strong reading and writing skills.
- 3Professional English proficiency at C1 level or higher to follow guidelines and provide detailed feedback in English.
- 43+ years of experience in writing, editing, localization, translation, content QA, journalism, education, or related language-focused work.
- 5Deep knowledge of Croatian grammar, spelling, punctuation, diacritics, cases, declension, conjugation, aspect, word order, tone, and style; able to explain corrections clearly.
- 6Comfort with multiple registers across formal, neutral, conversational, professional, educational, and public-facing Croatian.
- 7High attention to detail for subtle meaning shifts, awkward translations, incorrect endings, or culturally mismatched phrasing.
- 8Reliable, self-directed, and able to maintain quality in an hourly remote contractor setup across time zones.
- 9Prior experience with AI data training, annotation, translation QA, editorial QA, localization QA, or rubric-based evaluation is strongly preferred.
