Overview

AfterQuery needs a practicing US attorney to judge the quality of contract redlines produced during negotiation exercises. You will read transcripts of negotiation turns alongside reference redlines and decide whether each edit reflects the judgment a competent commercial lawyer would bring: the right clauses flagged, the right fallback positions, and changes kept tight. The work covers MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, DPAs and vendor or SaaS agreements, and it feeds directly into AI training data. Set your own hours, work from anywhere in the United States, and get paid $150 per hour.

What You'll Do8

  • Read transcripts of contract negotiation turns next to the reference redlines that accompany them.
  • Judge each redline against the standard a skilled commercial lawyer would apply to the same clause.
  • Check whether the reviewer caught the issues that matter and let the harmless ones pass.
  • Weigh the positions taken on indemnity, liability, data protection and similar terms for soundness.
  • Flag edits that overreach, miss the point, or alter language beyond what the clause needs.
  • Write structured feedback that names what went wrong in a redline and what a stronger edit looks like.
  • Keep your written judgments consistent across a high volume of contracts and reviewers.
  • Note patterns in redline quality that help the team tighten its evaluation criteria.

Requirements9

  • US Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on commercial contract negotiation and redlining.
  • Direct experience with MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, DPAs, vendor agreements, SaaS terms or comparable deal paper.
  • Background at a law firm, a private company or a municipality.
  • Current residence in the United States.
  • Ability to read a redline and state in plain, structured writing why it holds up or falls short.
  • Active bar admission and current practice preferred.
  • Prior work in-house, as a fractional GC, or in a high-volume contracts function preferred.
  • Familiarity with technology and SaaS commercial agreements preferred.

Who Should Apply

Practicing US attorneys with three or more years of commercial contracts work who can spot a weak redline and explain the reasoning behind it. Suits someone in-house, between roles, or on a career break who wants flexible remote work that keeps contract judgment sharp.

Salary Insight

The rate is $150 per hour, paid per task. That sits at the upper end of contract review and document assessment work, and it matches the profile of a lawyer with several years of deal experience rather than a junior reviewer.
