Overview
AfterQuery needs someone who can read a redlined agreement and tell whether a competent lawyer actually did the work. You will go through negotiation transcripts and reference redlines for MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, DPAs and vendor or SaaS contracts, then judge the quality of every edit. Your assessments feed AI training data at a Y Combinator-backed company. The work runs on your own schedule and pays per task at $150/hr.
What You'll Do7
- Read negotiation transcripts and reference redlines to follow how each exchange unfolded.
- Judge whether a redline flags the issues a competent counsel would catch.
- Check that the positions taken match what skilled counsel would hold on that clause.
- Assess whether edits stay surgical or spill into unrelated parts of the agreement.
- Write clear, structured feedback on the quality of each redline you review.
- Note redlines that miss material risk or misread what the counterparty intended.
- Apply consistent standards across a steady flow of contract turns.
Requirements4
- 3+ years of hands-on work negotiating and redlining commercial contracts such as MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, DPAs, vendor or SaaS agreements.
- Bachelor's degree or higher.
- Skill at reading a redline and stating a structured written judgment about it.
- Direct redlining and negotiation experience carries more weight than a law degree.
Who Should Apply
Contract professionals with at least three years of hands-on redlining and negotiation work who can explain in writing why a clause edit holds up or falls short. A JD or LLB helps, and so does time spent in-house or handling SaaS and technology agreements at volume.
Salary Insight
The rate is $150/hr, paid per task rather than on a salaried schedule. That figure sits well above typical contract-review pay and reflects the judgment the work demands from someone with three or more years of negotiation experience.
