Commercial Insurance Broker & Risk Advisor | $800 One-Time Remote
Overview
Mercor has teamed up with a top AI research lab to improve how frontier models handle commercial insurance reasoning. This remote, task-based role pays a flat $800 fee. You'll build realistic client scenarios and grade AI-generated advice against professional standards. The work shapes how future AI systems evaluate insurance purchasing and risk transfer. You can contribute 20 to 40+ hours per week from the US, Canada, or the UK.
What You'll Do7
- 1Create realistic client-advisory and placement scenarios across exposure identification, coverage recommendations, submissions, marketing, placement, renewals, and client servicing.
- 2Produce work products like coverage comparisons, renewal strategies, proposal analyses, exposure summaries, and client recommendations.
- 3Write golden reference responses at experienced broker or risk-advisor quality.
- 4Score AI-generated responses using structured rubrics for accuracy, completeness, client suitability, and practical usefulness.
- 5Flag model outputs that miss material exposures, suggest unsuitable coverage, confuse broker and carrier duties, or mishandle account-specific constraints.
- 6Give written feedback to the research team to refine model behavior.
- 7Attend onboarding office hours and calibration sessions.
Requirements6
- 12+ years of professional experience in commercial insurance brokerage, risk advisory, placement, production, or account management.
- 2Direct client work in at least one commercial segment: small business, middle market, large/national accounts, or specialty risks.
- 3Working knowledge of submissions, quotes, binders, policy comparisons, coverage gaps, renewals, and broker-carrier-client communications.
- 4Ability to separate a broker's advisory responsibilities from an insurer's underwriting and claims duties.
- 5Strong written communication with close attention to detail.
- 6Comfort explaining insurance terms and recommendations in plain language.
Who Should Apply
The right candidate has 2+ years of direct commercial brokerage or risk advisory experience and can explain coverage trade-offs in plain language. This role is less suitable for personal-lines agents, adjusters, or anyone without hands-on client-facing placement work. Common rejection reasons include vague examples that don't show real submissions or renewals, and writing samples that are too brief or unclear. You also need comfort evaluating model output, not just producing it.
Salary Insight
The total pay is $800, paid once. This is a fixed fee for the project, not an hourly rate, and the role asks for at least 20 hours per week during the engagement. It suits someone who wants to put in intensive hours for a short deliverable rather than ongoing employment.
