Cbrn Specialist (Remote) Contract
Listing checked September 11, 2026 · pay as published by SME Careers
Overview
Glide into a remote contractor role focused on CBRN safety and AI content evaluation. Review AI-generated outputs on chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear topics for accuracy, safety, and policy alignment, and craft high-quality reference content to guide safe AI behavior. Your work supports precise terminology, risk framing, and responsible public-safety guidance across time zones.
What You'll Do8
- 1Assess AI-produced CBRN content for accuracy, safety, and adherence to guidelines using concrete safety criteria such as exposure pathways and hazard classifications.
- 2Flag outputs that provide dangerous procedural steps, weaponization guidance, or unsafe lab practices and document why they are unsafe.
- 3Create gold-standard reference material that answers CBRN questions without disclosing hazardous instructions or operational detail.
- 4Evaluate model outputs for risk framing, appropriate refusals, and clear redirection when necessary.
- 5Identify hallucinations, incorrect hazard classifications, or overconfident conclusions and suggest corrective edits.
- 6Apply project rubrics to ensure consistency and provide clear written feedback on content safety and completeness.
- 7Maintain high technical quality by using precise CBRN terminology and avoiding exaggerated risk statements.
- 8Escalate ambiguous or high-risk content to senior reviewers per guidelines.
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field or equivalent professional experience in CBRN safety, emergency preparedness, or environmental health and safety.
- 2Strong English proficiency (minimum C1) with ability to provide detailed written feedback.
- 33+ years in CBRN safety, emergency preparedness, hazardous materials, biosafety, radiation safety, or related work.
- 4Solid understanding of CBRN hazard categories, exposure pathways, emergency communication, and public-safety principles.
- 5Ability to evaluate AI outputs for accuracy, safety, and policy alignment and identify unsafe guidance.
- 6Familiarity with safety frameworks, biosafety levels, decontamination concepts, incident reporting, and public-health guidance preferred.
- 7Attention to terminology, units, risk levels, and escalation guidance.
- 8Reliable, self-directed, and able to work remotely across time zones.
- 9Experience with AI safety, data annotation, technical QA, policy review, or red-team/technical reviews is strongly preferred.
Who Should Apply
Ideal candidates have hands-on CBRN safety expertise and a track record of QA or policy review in AI safety contexts. Those with limited experience in CBRN but strong technical writing and risk assessment skills may not be the best fit. Candidates who prefer non-remote or non-contractor arrangements may find this role misaligned. Strong candidates will demonstrate precise terminology usage, ability to critique AI outputs, and comfort flagging unsafe content.
