Overview

This role involves leveraging legal expertise in energy regulatory matters, specifically PJM and FERC, to train next-generation AI systems. The attorney will provide senior-level review and validation of energy infrastructure documentation, assess compliance with interconnection procedures, and help improve review frameworks. No prior AI experience is required; domain knowledge is the key qualification.

What You'll Do6

  • 1Provide senior-level legal review and final validation of site control, interconnection, and permitting-related documentation for energy infrastructure projects.
  • 2Assess whether project materials align with PJM generator interconnection procedures, queue-readiness expectations, site control requirements, and applicable FERC-regulated processes.
  • 3Review escalated issues flagged by Tier 1 legal reviewers, including incomplete site control evidence, inconsistent project filings, unclear permitting status, or potential interconnection compliance gaps.
  • 4Analyze documentation related to utility-scale solar, wind, battery storage, transmission, and large-load or generation interconnection projects in PJM and adjacent East Coast markets.
  • 5Deliver concise legal findings, risk flags, and structured determinations for client-facing review workflows.
  • 6Help improve review rubrics, issue-spotting guidelines, and decision frameworks used by lower-tier reviewers.

Requirements7

  • 1Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 28+ years of legal experience in energy regulatory, power, infrastructure, project development, or related legal practice.
  • 3Direct experience with PJM interconnection processes, including generator interconnection requests, queue participation, site control, readiness requirements, or interconnection agreement workflows.
  • 4Strong working knowledge of FERC-regulated transmission and generation interconnection frameworks.
  • 5Experience reviewing legal, regulatory, land, permitting, or project development documentation for energy infrastructure projects.
  • 6Ability to provide practical legal judgment in a structured review environment without requiring extensive supervision.
  • 7East Coast-based or substantial experience with East Coast / PJM-region energy infrastructure matters.

Who Should Apply

An experienced energy attorney (8+ years) with a deep understanding of PJM interconnection processes and FERC regulations, ideally based on the East Coast. The ideal candidate has a background in reviewing legal and regulatory documentation for energy infrastructure projects and can apply sound legal judgment independently. No AI experience is needed—just strong domain expertise.
