Overview

Mercor builds evaluation tasks for construction and property work, and this role centers on design coordination for permit and construction drawing sets. Each task begins with real drawings, documents, or site photos and asks for a deliverable you would produce on the job, such as an RFI response, a coordination comment set, or a marked-up set. You write both the task and the correct answer, then another reviewer in your discipline checks the work before it goes out. The project values people who can read cross-sheet conflicts and know what a rushed review might miss. US model code experience and Bluebeam Revu markup skills matter here.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Author evaluation tasks from architectural drawings, specs, and site photos.
  • 2Produce model answers for RFI responses and review comments.
  • 3Mark up drawing sets to show coordination issues and redline fixes.
  • 4Run QC checks on architectural sets and back-check redlines.
  • 5Review cross-sheet coordination across architectural and engineering drawings.
  • 6Assess constructability and pre-bid drawing scope.
  • 7Scope addendum changes and design change approvals.
  • 8Review shop drawings for interiors, millwork, and building envelope details.
  • 9Perform commissioning design reviews and as-built drawing production.
  • 10Maintain drawing-set document control and technical peer review standards.

Requirements8

  • 1Licensed architect, or 8+ years as a project architect or job captain producing permit sets.
  • 23+ years in a seat that authors and coordinates permit and construction drawing sets.
  • 3US-based with experience in US model code jurisdictions.
  • 48+ years preferred for project architect, job captain, architect of record, or design coordination lead roles.
  • 5Able to mark up drawing sets and details with Bluebeam Revu or equivalent.
  • 6Know cross-sheet coordination, set QC, and redline back-check.
  • 7Experience with RFI processes from designer and reviewer sides.
  • 8Background maintaining office standards or detail libraries.

Who Should Apply

The ideal candidate holds or held an architect of record, project architect, job captain, or design coordination lead seat. You have authored and coordinated permit and construction sets in US model code jurisdictions, and you can mark up drawings in Bluebeam Revu or a similar tool. Standouts often ran set QC or back-check on other people's drawings, mentored job captains, kept office standards or a detail library, and worked both sides of the RFI process. The role is less suitable for CAD or BIM drafters who lack set authorship, renderers, visualization specialists, interior decorators, and PMs who coordinate schedules rather than drawings. Candidates lose fit when they show only production drafting, no US model code work, or no experience reviewing and correcting drawing sets.

Salary Insight

Pay runs $45 to $60 per hour. Mercor ties the final rate to experience and notes room to grow as the project scales. That band aligns with licensed architects or senior project architects and job captains who own permit-set production, not with drafters who only execute markups.

Application Tip

In your application, name the permit and construction set types you authored, list the US model code jurisdictions you worked in, and describe two cross-sheet conflicts you caught during QC or back-check. Mention Bluebeam Revu and any office standard or detail library you maintained. Quantify years in architect of record, project architect, or job captain seats so the fit screen sees authorship, not just drafting.

Architect Expert - Remote Design Contract

AfterQuery creates evaluation and training data that frontier AI labs rely on to gauge model judgment in professional work. The company seeks licensed architects or architecture graduates to craft scenarios that move from schematic design through construction documents. You will write reference answers that explain the design choices and building codes logic behind each scenario. Then you will review AI output for design quality and code compliance, and call out designs that look polished on the surface but would fail plan review. Work runs remote and async, with a minimum of 10 hours each week and no ceiling.

Civil Survey Engineer - Remote US Contract

Mercor builds evaluation tasks for the construction and property field, and this project needs civil and survey work turned into scored exercises. You start with real drawings, maps, aerials, and site documents, then produce the same deliverables a working reviewer would hand over: a plan review comment set, a survey exception schedule, or a measured read. You author both the task and its correct answer. A second reviewer in your discipline checks the work before it ships. The role covers civil grading, stormwater, roadway, utility, floodplain, and ALTA survey topics.
