Software Engineer (Human Data Platforms) | $50-$70/hr Remote
Overview
We're looking for a versatile software engineer to join a small, high-velocity team building the infrastructure that powers human data platforms. You'll own full-stack features—from APIs and user interfaces to data pipelines—while working on secure document handling, OCR, and search systems. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives on end-to-end ownership and can move fast without sacrificing quality.
What You'll Do7
- 1Design and ship features across the stack using Python with FastAPI on the backend and React/Next.js/TypeScript on the frontend.
- 2Build and maintain data pipelines that support model evaluation and control layers, ensuring reliability and scalability.
- 3Own secure document processing workflows—managing storage in S3/GCS/Azure, enforcing permissions, and preventing data leaks.
- 4Develop OCR and search capabilities for parsing PDFs, images, and scanned documents.
- 5Work with complex nested JSON structures, parsing and enforcing schemas for document tooling.
- 6Create tooling to generate, edit, and annotate PDFs and images, integrating with the rest of the platform.
- 7Debug and optimize pipeline performance, storage systems, and overall system design.
Requirements6
- 1Strong experience building with Python (especially FastAPI) and React on the frontend.
- 2Comfortable working across the entire stack—from database queries to UI components.
- 3Solid grasp of core software fundamentals: APIs, SQL, async programming, and data modeling.
- 4Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- 5Proven ability to work with complex data systems or pipeline architectures.
- 6High ownership mindset, low ego, and a track record of fast, reliable execution.
