Software Engineer, Data Platforms
Listing checked September 10, 2026 · pay as published by Micro1
Overview
micro1 seeks a fullstack engineer to build and maintain its human data platforms. You will work across Python and TypeScript services, React frontends, and data pipelines that support expert workflows. The position blends traditional fullstack work with research engineering, where coding agents like Claude Code or Cursor serve as your main development tool. You will collaborate with research engineers, operations, and product teams to turn requirements into production systems. This is a remote, full-time role with a base salary range of $120,000 to $160,000 per year, plus equity and potential bonuses.
What You'll Do8
- 1Design and deliver fullstack features spanning backend APIs, data pipelines, and React user interfaces.
- 2Take charge of client-facing data delivery and platform infrastructure, covering exports, access control, and system reliability.
- 3Define work by outcomes, direct coding agents (often multiple at once), review changes at the architecture level, and iterate until deployment.
- 4Build and maintain services using Python (FastAPI) and TypeScript.
- 5Contribute to data modeling, schema design, and query performance across relational and document databases.
- 6Work with research engineering, operations, and product teams to convert platform needs into production-ready systems.
- 7Enhance frameworks, checks, and evals that speed up agent-driven development while maintaining quality.
- 8Diagnose production issues and create resilient, observable systems.
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 20–5 years of software engineering experience, or strong shipped projects as a recent graduate.
- 3Solid fundamentals in Python and TypeScript, with experience building CRUD applications using frameworks such as FastAPI/Flask and React.
- 4Working knowledge of databases like PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or SQLite and core data modeling principles.
- 5Experience deploying services on a major cloud platform (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
- 6Coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex are your default development workflow, and you can clearly explain how you use them.
- 7Ability to turn outcomes into plans, direct agents, verify results, and identify architectural issues agents may miss.
- 8Understanding of agent loops, MCP, tool/data integrations, permissions, and security.
- 9Familiarity with context management, RAG, and evals for testing agent workflows.
Who Should Apply
This role suits early-career engineers who have shipped fullstack projects and are comfortable using coding agents as a primary workflow. Candidates with 0–5 years of experience, or recent graduates with strong project portfolios, will find the scope matches their background. The position is less ideal for engineers who prefer traditional manual coding without agent involvement or who lack experience with Python, TypeScript, and React. A common reason candidates get rejected is failing to demonstrate hands-on use of tools like Claude Code or Cursor in their work history. Another pitfall is not showing how they verify agent-generated code or catch architectural flaws that agents might overlook.
Salary Insight
The base salary for this full-time role ranges from $120,000 to $160,000 per year. Employees are also eligible for equity compensation and may receive performance-based bonuses, depending on the role and company policies. micro1 offers benefits including up to 100% reimbursement for health-insurance premiums, paid time off, and a 401(K) plan with a company match.

Application Tip
In your application, explicitly name the coding agents you use (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) and describe a specific project where you directed agents to build a feature, then reviewed and improved the output. Quantify the impact, such as time saved or bugs caught, to show you can manage agent-driven development effectively.
