Rheumatologist
Listing checked October 24, 2026 · pay as published by Mercor
Overview
Mercor pairs board-certified rheumatologists with a major AI lab to test how well health models handle clinical reasoning. Your day centers on de-identified patient charts: you read the record, then score AI responses to rheumatology questions against current standards of care. Each judgment comes with a written rationale that covers clinical rigor, completeness, and clarity, so strong documentation habits matter as much as diagnostic skill. The work runs on hourly terms with flexible part-time hours, all remote, and the team wants someone to start right away.
What You'll Do6
- 1Score AI answers to rheumatology clinical questions for accuracy, safety, and fit with accepted standards of care
- 2Compare two model responses side by side and identify which one holds up better against the patient chart
- 3Write structured rationales that explain your rating on clinical rigor, completeness, and clarity
- 4Call out errors or omissions that could put a patient at risk
- 5Cross-check every claim in a model answer against the de-identified chart in front of you
- 6Apply current rheumatology practice patterns when a model answer looks plausible but drifts from standard care
Requirements7
- 1MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- 2Board certification in ABIM Rheumatology through an ABMS member board or the AOA
- 3Active, unrestricted US medical license
- 4Completed residency, plus fellowship where your specialty requires one
- 5Currently seeing patients in the US, with at least one year of independent practice after training
- 6Three or more years of post-training experience strongly preferred
- 7Clear writing and close attention to detail when documenting clinical judgments
Who Should Apply
Practicing, board-certified rheumatologists who still see patients and want flexible remote work that puts their clinical judgment to use. You need at least a year of independent practice behind you and a sharp eye for detail in written work.

Application Tip
Lead with your board certification details: name the ABMS or AOA board, your active state license, and your current practice setting, then add a line on years of independent practice past fellowship. Vague credential entries slow down verification and can cost you the slot.
