Overview

Turing needs working medical coders and CDI specialists to shape how AI models handle clinical reasoning and documentation. You will write realistic cases, including longitudinal chart scenarios, and supply reference answers plus scoring rubrics that cover coding, documentation improvement, billing and denials. Then you judge model output against those rubrics and call out contradictions, gaps in the record and risks to patient safety. This is a remote contractor engagement for US-based professionals, expected to run about 12 weeks with a target start of November 2, 2026.

What You'll Do8

  • Build demanding clinical tasks and longitudinal chart scenarios that reflect real coding and CDI work.
  • Write reference answers and evaluation rubrics for coding, documentation improvement, billing and denial scenarios.
  • Assemble fragmented records into a single view, then flag contradictions, missing steps and documentation gaps.
  • Score model responses for clinical reasoning, documentation quality and patient safety.
  • Apply structured rubrics to each case and keep judgments consistent across reviewers.
  • Review specialist feedback and revise cases through calibration rounds.
  • Steer the work toward conclusions a coding or CDI professional could defend in an audit.
  • Keep four hours of overlap with Pacific working hours to support review cycles.

Requirements8

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in medical coding or CDI.
  • Current practice, or practice within the last three years.
  • An active, recognized coding or CDI credential that fits your discipline.
  • A healthcare degree or comparable hands-on experience.
  • Strong chart review and clinical reasoning ability.
  • Clear written communication that holds up to scrutiny.
  • Comfort following standard rubrics and absorbing critique from reviewers.
  • Track record of defensible conclusions with patient safety in mind.

Preferred Qualifications4

  • Familiarity with US clinical guidelines and payer policies.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and healthcare workflows.
  • Prior work on AI evaluation, clinical content or assessment development.
  • Experience with expert review or quality improvement projects.

Who Should Apply

Credentialed coders and CDI specialists with three or more years in active practice who can read a chart, spot what is missing, and defend a conclusion in writing. Ideal if you have reviewed clinical content or assessments before and want part-time or full-time contract work from home.

Salary Insight

The rate is USD 38 per hour on a contractor engagement. That sits above many staff coding positions once you account for the credential and chart-review depth this project asks for, and you can pick 20 or 40 hours per week.
