Overview
micro1 seeks Inpatient Medical Coders to join a project that improves the accuracy of inpatient clinical coding and data quality. Your facility coding expertise will help train next-generation AI systems by reviewing records, validating codes, and assessing AI-generated suggestions. This is a remote contractor role open to coders in the United States, with a pay range of $50 to $70 per hour. You will work with ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and MS-DRG concepts to ensure data integrity.
What You'll Do6
- Check inpatient medical records for correct ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding that follows current official guidelines.
- Identify the principal diagnosis and all secondary diagnoses for each admission, then evaluate how MCCs, CCs, and procedures influence DRG assignment.
- Examine clinical documentation for completeness and accuracy, and note cases where a provider query may be needed.
- Compare AI-generated clinical notes, summaries, and code suggestions with actual documentation and inpatient coding standards.
- Resolve discrepancies between diagnosis and procedure codes to maintain data integrity.
- Enter and verify AI-generated patient information in inpatient medical record and encoder systems.
Requirements5
- Active coding certification such as CIC, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, or another AHIMA or AAPC credential.
- Hands-on inpatient coding experience with ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS, including DRG, MCC/CC, and POA concepts.
- Access to current official ICD-10 code sets and guidelines, plus familiarity with AHA Coding Clinic.
- Current employment in inpatient coding, clinical documentation improvement, or a closely related role.
- Availability of at least 10 hours per week.
Who Should Apply
Certified inpatient coders (CIC, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, or equivalent) who currently work in inpatient coding, CDI, or a similar role and can commit at least 10 hours per week. You should be comfortable with ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, DRG assignment, and MCC/CC concepts, and have access to current coding guidelines.
