  • 1juris doctor or bachelor of laws or equivalent with substantial primary-law research experience; active bar membership is a plus.
  • 2At least five years of professional legal research experience.
  • 3Structured research ability from issue framing to authority retrieval and synthesis with clearly stated caveats.
  • 4Experience interpreting statutes, regulations, and case law, including holdings versus dicta and procedural posture relevance.
  • 5Strong citation hygiene: verify quotations, pinpoint citations, and support propositions.
  • 6Comfort with jurisdictional variation and clear statements of assumptions.
  • 7Excellent attention to detail and strong English writing (C1) for concise legal prose.
  • 8Reliable, self-directed, and able to deliver consistent quality in hourly remote contractor workflow across time zones.
  • 9Familiarity with legal research tools such as Westlaw or Lexis and Bluebook or local standards.
  • 10Prior experience with AI data training/annotation, editorial QA, knowledge management, or legal publishing is strongly preferred.
