Java Team Lead for Remote AI Training QA Contract
Overview
As a Java Quality Assurance Lead, you’ll steer remote QA workflows for AI training projects and mentor a distributed team of contributors. You will evaluate Java code and Spring Boot snippets against project rubrics, delivering precise written feedback to improve correctness and maintainability. You’ll maintain Java style guides and onboarding materials, coordinating guidance in Discord and shared docs to keep everyone aligned. Strong English communication and a detail-oriented approach help you ensure security, performance, and clean architecture across remote teams.
What You'll Do9
- 1Spot-check AI training outputs for Java items, identify quality issues, and provide targeted feedback via Discord direct messages, escalating critical cases.
- 2Evaluate AI-generated Java code, Spring backend snippets, debugging results, tests, and architecture explanations against project rubrics.
- 3Keep contributors informed by posting guideline changes and Java-specific standards on Discord.
- 4Answer questions on Java syntax, OOP design, collections, streams, concurrency, exceptions, Spring Boot, testing, and rubric interpretation.
- 5DM inactive contributors, track follow-ups, and flag availability issues.
- 6Create and maintain Java style guides, trackers, FAQs, examples, onboarding materials, and calibration tasks.
- 7Conduct onboarding and training calls for Java contributors.
- 8Flag insecure, non-compilable, or non-production-ready Java recommendations.
- 9Identify recurring quality gaps and propose improvements to QA workflows.
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or equivalent professional software engineering experience.
- 23+ years of professional experience in Java development, backend engineering, enterprise software, JVM systems, code review, software QA, or technical mentoring.
- 3Strong understanding of core Java fundamentals including OOP, collections, generics, streams, lambdas, exceptions, concurrency, annotations, JVM behavior, memory management, modules, and modern features.
- 4Ability to evaluate Java content against rubrics and identify issues such as non-compilable code, incorrect logic, poor exception handling, unsafe concurrency, weak object modeling, inefficient algorithms, or incomplete explanations.
- 5Familiarity with Java ecosystems and tools such as Spring Boot, Maven, Gradle, JUnit, Mockito, Hibernate/JPA, REST APIs, JDBC, IntelliJ, Eclipse, Docker, GitHub, CI/CD, logging, and profiling tools is preferred.
- 6Experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, engineers, coding mentors, or QAs is strongly preferred.
- 7Comfortable working in fast-moving remote environments using Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, GitHub, and project management systems.
- 8Highly organized with the ability to maintain style guides, trackers, FAQs, onboarding materials, honeypots, calibration tasks, and quality documentation.
- 9Experience with AI training, data annotation, LLM evaluation, code QA, or rubric-based code review is a strong plus.
