Overview

Join Mercor's project with a leading AI lab, where your voice shapes a next-generation AI assistant. You'll speak Japanese to carry out everyday tasks on your own Mac, then judge how well the assistant handled each request. This 4-week remote contract starts immediately and pays $24 per hour. Your recorded interactions and ratings will help refine natural, voice-driven AI.

What You'll Do5

  • 1Speak commands to craft emails, messages, and notes across common apps like Mail, Slack, or Notes.
  • 2Direct the AI to produce images, reformat text, run spreadsheet formulas, or condense lengthy documents into clear summaries.
  • 3Capture word-for-word transcripts of your spoken directives, then edit them into polished, readable versions.
  • 4Evaluate the AI's responses for accuracy and usefulness, scoring each one on a structured scale.
  • 5Log every trial's details into a tracking spreadsheet and attach your supporting audio or screen recordings to a shared drive.

Requirements5

  • 1Native-level fluency in Japanese, ideally raised or permanently living in Japan.
  • 2Ability to follow written and spoken instructions in English without difficulty.
  • 3Personal Mac with an Apple Silicon chip (M1, M2, or M3) and macOS Sequoia 15.0 or a newer release.
  • 4Daily hands-on experience with productivity tools: email clients, messaging apps, document editors, spreadsheets, and browsers.
  • 5Comfort with detailed, methodical data entry and a habit of double-checking your own work.

Who Should Apply

This role suits a native Japanese speaker who thrives on structured, detail-heavy tasks and enjoys talking to software as if it were a colleague. You'll spend your contracted weeks on a Mac, repeating voice trials and honestly rating AI output. If you're seeking creative copywriting or broad content generation, this is not the right fit. Applicants commonly get rejected for lacking a compatible Mac with the required Apple Silicon chip or for not reaching native proficiency in Japanese. Sloppy data logging or slipping into English during trials also hurts your fit score.

Salary Insight

The contract pays a flat $24 per hour, regardless of where you're based. That rate is typical for short-term, voice-data collection roles and appropriately matches the focused, repetitive nature of the work and the need for native Japanese.
