Equity Research Analyst - Single-Name Remote
Listing checked September 15, 2026 · pay as published by Mercor
Overview
Jade creates expert-written forecasting and research data that teams use to test and improve AI models on real financial analysis. This engagement centers on single-name equity analyst publications, where you predict when a named sell-side analyst will publish after a catalyst and what that note will say. Each task starts from a fixed evidence cutoff, so you reason with just the information available at that moment. The work is remote and paid by the hour, with output judged on sell-side equity research judgment across filings, earnings transcripts, estimates, valuation, and ratings.
What You'll Do6
- 1Forecast the release timing for a named analyst's post-catalyst research note.
- 2Build the expected published view from filings, earnings calls, transcripts, estimates, valuation, and ratings.
- 3Document the internal research workflow that shapes how and when a report reaches clients.
- 4Review model-generated analyses and grade them against the standard of a strong publishing analyst.
- 5Apply point-in-time discipline from the stated evidence cutoff, avoiding hindsight, data leakage, confidential information, and material non-public information.
- 6Explain the judgment a senior analyst would have made at the cutoff, not what became clear after the fact.
Requirements7
- 1Former lead sell-side equity analyst or very senior research associate who published post-catalyst research in the relevant sector.
- 2Eight or more years of direct equity research experience, or strong evidence of equivalent performance.
- 3Fluency with filings, earnings calls, transcripts, estimates, valuation, ratings, and the workflow behind a sell-side report.
- 4Experience on Institutional Investor-ranked teams or at leading research franchises such as Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan, Bank of America, Citi, UBS, Barclays, Bernstein, Jefferies, or Wolfe Research.
- 5Direct coverage rivals, former colleagues, and senior buy-side consumers of a named analyst's work bring extra value.
- 6Brand-name experience helps on the first pass, but performance on the work sample decides who qualifies.
- 7Ability to reason from a fixed cutoff without hindsight, data leakage, confidential information, or material non-public information.
Who Should Apply
The ideal candidate has worked as a lead sell-side equity analyst or senior research associate in a defined sector and can point to post-catalyst notes they authored. You understand filings, earnings transcripts, valuation, estimates, and ratings well enough to recreate an analyst's decision process at a specific cutoff. People who follow markets from a distance, lack named coverage experience, or cannot show eight-plus years of comparable work will find this role a poor fit. A common reason candidates score low is using hindsight after the catalyst instead of reasoning from the evidence available at the cutoff. Another is treating filings and transcripts as background reading rather than the core inputs for a single-name thesis.
Salary Insight
Jade lists an hourly rate of $150 to $250 for this engagement. That range matches senior sell-side equity research specialists, including former lead analysts with single-name coverage. Candidates from top-tier franchises with Institutional Investor rankings tend to sit at the upper end, while less specialized research backgrounds may land near the lower end.

Application Tip
Name the sector and catalyst types you covered, then quantify your coverage universe, report cadence, and any Institutional Investor ranking or franchise experience. Your work sample should show point-in-time reasoning from the stated cutoff without hindsight. That detail matters more than a firm name alone, since the task grades how you recreate an analyst's view at the moment before publication.
