Equity Research Expert - Remote Contract
Listing checked September 18, 2026 · pay as published by Micro1
Overview
micro1 seeks Equity Research Experts to support a client project centered on advanced financial analysis, modeling, and sector insights. Your work will directly influence how next-generation AI systems learn and reason about equity research. You'll review datasets, analyze earnings, and craft investment theses. No AI background is needed; deep domain knowledge in equity research is what counts. This is a remote contractor role with flexible hours.
What You'll Do7
- 1Evaluate and enhance datasets that simulate real-world equity research analysis, checking for accuracy and relevance.
- 2Examine earnings reports, update estimates, and compile peer benchmarking insights for AI training.
- 3Write detailed assessments of company models, covering revenue, margins, cash flow, and valuation drivers.
- 4Produce concise research summaries and event-driven updates using your sector expertise.
- 5Formulate and explain investment theses that tie qualitative and quantitative factors to actionable views.
- 6Spot key industry trends, sector-specific metrics, and company catalysts for fundamental analysis.
- 7Work with project stakeholders to give feedback on data quality and improve research content.
Requirements7
- 1Substantial experience as a sell-side Research Associate with direct ownership of company models and written research, or as a publishing/lead Research Analyst (VP or Director level).
- 2Proven track record of independently covering multiple companies across several earnings cycles while maintaining comprehensive models.
- 3Ability to link business drivers to financial outcomes and valuation.
- 4Deep expertise in at least one sector, such as banks, insurance, or biotech, with the capacity to offer specialist insights.
- 5Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with a knack for explaining complex financial concepts clearly.
- 6Background in granular earnings analysis, peer benchmarking, valuation, and event-driven research updates.
- 7Experience building and defending investment theses and research views, with accountability for research accuracy and quality.
Who Should Apply
This role suits someone with a strong sell-side research background who has owned models and published reports across multiple earnings cycles. If you have sector depth in areas like banks, insurance, or biotech and can translate business drivers into financial outcomes, you're a good fit. The role is less ideal for those without hands-on experience covering companies or building models from scratch. Candidates often get rejected when they lack a clear sector specialization or cannot show a track record of independent coverage. Another common pitfall is submitting generic research samples that don't demonstrate deep, event-driven analysis.
