Overview
AfterQuery builds the evaluation and training data that frontier AI labs rely on to measure what their models can and cannot do. As an English Teacher Expert, you turn real classroom expertise into reading and writing instruction scenarios that test how well a model judges student work. You also write the reference feedback those evaluations are scored against, which means your pedagogical reasoning becomes part of the benchmark itself. The work runs on your schedule: fully remote, fully async, with a minimum of 10 hours per week and no ceiling.
What You'll Do6
- Draft realistic reading and writing instruction scenarios that span grade levels and course types
- Produce model answers to student writing, showing the reasoning a skilled teacher would apply
- Score model output on how well it reads literature and how useful its feedback would be to a student
- Call out responses that sound encouraging but give the writer nothing concrete to revise
- Judge literary analysis for accuracy against the text and the assignment
- Write pedagogical reasoning clearly enough that another teacher could follow your logic
Requirements8
- A teaching license or certification with an English or language arts endorsement
- At least two years teaching English in a classroom
- Solid command of writing instruction, literature study, and composition feedback
- Written English strong enough to serve as a model of excellent feedback
- Availability of 10 hours per week or more
- Preferred: experience with AP, IB, or comparable advanced courses
- Preferred: advising journalism, yearbook, or creative writing
- Preferred: experience teaching English learners
