Overview

micro1 is hiring English teachers to work on a customer project that improves AI assistants by evaluating real-world tasks. You will use your classroom experience, including parent communication and scheduling, to train and assess AI models. The work involves Google Classroom, Gmail, and Google Calendar tasks, plus reviewing AI-generated writing for grammar, tone, and clarity. This is a remote contractor role open to candidates in the United States.

What You'll Do6

  • 1Carry out realistic teaching tasks such as emailing parents and students, scheduling conferences, booking field trips to theaters or author events, and coordinating with colleagues using AI assistant tools under standardized conditions.
  • 2Read detailed task instructions and grading guidelines and follow them precisely, including multi-step requirements and fine details.
  • 3Give an AI assistant clear instructions for real-world tasks, then review its work for accuracy, tone, grammar, completeness, and adherence to the instructions.
  • 4Apply detailed grading guidelines to evaluate, rank, and annotate assistant responses, focusing on language quality, literary and stylistic appropriateness, clarity, and tone.
  • 5Use knowledge of literature, rhetoric, and composition to judge whether AI-written text is well-constructed, audience-appropriate, and faithful to the request.
  • 6Use AI training tools and platforms to record findings and submit evaluation data in line with project standards and milestones.

Requirements8

  • 1Must be based in the US and have an iPhone with iMessage plus a Facebook and/or Instagram account.
  • 2Bachelor's degree in English, literature, creative writing, linguistics, comparative literature, education, or a related humanities field.
  • 3Strong instruction-following skills: ability to read detailed, multi-step guidelines and apply every requirement accurately without skipping or reinterpreting steps.
  • 4Experience teaching English or literature (e.g., language arts, literature, composition, creative writing, or ESL) at the K-12, college, or adult education level.
  • 5Solid knowledge of literary analysis, writing conventions, and grammar, with the ability to evaluate text for style, tone, and clarity.
  • 6Daily, hands-on use of Google Classroom to run classes: posting assignments and announcements, giving feedback on student work, managing due dates, and communicating with students and parents, along with regular use of Gmail and Google Calendar.
  • 7Experience using AI tools for real, practical tasks, with comfort giving an AI assistant instructions and checking its work.
  • 8Exceptional attention to detail in grammar, tone, and accuracy when reviewing AI-generated writing.

Who Should Apply

This role suits current or former English teachers who already use Google Classroom daily and have a strong grasp of grammar, literary analysis, and writing instruction. Candidates should be comfortable giving AI assistants instructions and checking their output, and must be based in the US with an iPhone and social media accounts. The role is less suitable for those without classroom teaching experience or who dislike following detailed, multi-step guidelines. A common reason candidates get rejected is not meeting the tech requirement (iPhone with iMessage and Facebook/Instagram). Another is lacking hands-on Google Classroom use or showing weak attention to detail when reviewing AI-generated text.
