Overview
micro1 seeks certified Coding Authors (CCS, CIC, or CPC) to craft training material that teaches next-generation AI systems how to reason about medical coding. You will write realistic coding scenarios, answer keys, and evaluation rubrics across inpatient, outpatient, and professional fee settings. Your ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS expertise directly shapes how models interpret real-world coding rules. No AI background is needed; deep domain knowledge is what counts.
What You'll Do6
- Write realistic medical coding scenarios, clinical documentation excerpts, and coding questions for inpatient, outpatient, and professional fee settings, assigning accurate ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
- Produce detailed answer keys and rationales that justify code selection, sequencing, modifiers, and Present on Admission (POA) indicators, referencing official guidelines and coding conventions.
- Create evaluation rubrics and test cases at varying difficulty levels, including complex or ambiguous documentation, to measure how well AI models apply coding rules.
- Review and revise existing coding content for accuracy, clarity, and alignment with current ICD-10-CM/PCS Official Guidelines, AHA Coding Clinic, and CPT guidance.
- Work with project stakeholders through written and verbal communication to clarify requirements, resolve documentation ambiguities, and maintain data integrity.
- Provide high-quality feedback on coding guidelines and complex cases to improve project workflows and deepen AI model understanding.
Requirements5
- Active AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), AAPC Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), or AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential.
- Thorough expertise in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT, with hands-on coding experience in a hospital, physician practice, or coding audit setting.
- Ability to explain complex coding decisions clearly and concisely in writing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail and clarity.
- Access to current ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT code sets and Official Coding Guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications1
- Experience writing or reviewing coding content, such as training materials, audit findings, coder education, or exam preparation.
Who Should Apply
Certified coders (CCS, CIC, or CPC) with hands-on inpatient, outpatient, or professional fee coding experience who enjoy explaining code choices in writing. If you have authored training materials, audit findings, or exam prep content, that background fits well. Access to current code sets and official guidelines is required.
