contract

Overview

As a remote contractor, you will lead chemistry quality assurance for AI training data QA across content, ensuring consistency and high standards among trainers. You will review AI-generated chemistry explanations and calculations, evaluating them against project rubrics and providing precise written feedback. You will flag quality issues early and guide improvements to maintain accurate reasoning, unit consistency, and safety awareness. Collaboration with trainers and QAs happens via Discord while you keep comprehensive project documentation up to date.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Spot-check AI-generated chemistry items, identify quality issues, and deliver targeted feedback through direct messages.
  • 2Assess explanations, calculations, reaction mechanisms, nomenclature, diagrams, and problem-solving steps for correctness and clarity against rubrics.
  • 3Keep trainers and QAs aligned by updating them on new guidelines and quality standards via Discord.
  • 4Respond to trainer and QA questions clearly and promptly, focusing on chemical reasoning, units, formulas, reactions, mechanisms, and rubric interpretation.
  • 5DM inactive contributors to re-engage them, track follow-ups, and flag availability issues when needed.
  • 6Create and maintain chemistry project documentation, including style guides, trackers, FAQs, quality notes, examples, honeypots, calibration tasks, and onboarding materials.
  • 7Schedule and run onboarding calls with trainers and QAs to explain project expectations, workflows, rubrics, quality standards, and chemistry-specific review requirements.
  • 8Ensure consistent application of chemistry guidelines as projects evolve.
  • 9Flag unsafe, misleading, or overconfident chemistry recommendations, especially where handling, procedures, or safety may be affected.
  • 10Identify recurring quality gaps and propose scalable QA improvements for chemistry AI training projects.

Requirements10

  • 1Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in chemistry, chemical sciences, biochemistry, materials chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, or closely related field.
  • 2Strong English proficiency to follow project guidelines and provide clear scientific feedback in English.
  • 33+ years of professional experience in chemistry research, laboratory work, teaching, scientific writing, technical review, quality control, formulation, or analytical chemistry.
  • 4Solid understanding of core chemistry topics: general, organic, inorganic, physical, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, thermodynamics, kinetics, equilibrium, stoichiometry, spectroscopy, and reaction mechanisms.
  • 5Ability to evaluate chemistry content against detailed rubrics and identify issues such as incorrect assumptions, flawed calculations, missing units, unsafe recommendations, or misleading explanations.
  • 6Familiarity with laboratory documentation, analytical methods, spectroscopy interpretation, chromatography, titration analysis, molecular structure interpretation, safety data sheets, or scientific literature review.
  • 7Experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, researchers, or QAs is strongly preferred.
  • 8Comfortable working in fast-moving remote environments using Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management systems.
  • 9Highly detail-oriented and organized; able to maintain style guides, FAQs, trackers, onboarding materials, calibration tasks, and other quality documentation.
  • 10Experience with AI training, data annotation, LLM evaluation, prompt/response evaluation, or rubric-based LLM evaluation is a strong plus.

Who Should Apply

Chemistry professionals with a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD seeking remote QA work and at least 3 years of related experience. Ideal candidates communicate clearly in English and can contribute to rubric-based evaluations and documentation. This role fits those comfortable with asynchronous collaboration and detailed quality workflows, not suited for those without QA or AI-training exposure. Strong applicants will demonstrate past rubric-driven reviews and proactive remote teamwork. Less suitable for candidates who prefer in-person work or have limited experience with documentation-heavy QA tasks.

Salary Insight

Pay rate is $75/hr. This hourly contractor role aligns with remote chemistry QA work in AI data services and mid-to-senior level expertise.
