Overview
100X hands you a client engagement and a pod of engineers, then expects you to own what ships. Week one means digging into the codebase, learning why the project exists, and studying how each engineer on the pod works. You turn that into a visual plan you present to both the client and the team, then run a steady delivery cadence from there. The role sits at the intersection of AI systems engineering and people leadership, with Python work and agent tooling as daily fixtures. No cold prospecting quota: renewals come from delivery quality.
What You'll Do9
- Trace the business reason behind the client project, review the existing codebase, and map out how each engineer on the pod operates.
- Convert that early context into a clear visual plan, walk the client and team through it, and take ownership of execution.
- Run a daily delivery rhythm, tracking progress and decisions while keeping blockers visible.
- Study the team's workflow and friction points, then investigate failures several layers down before testing a fix.
- Give the client a weekly read on progress, risks, and the calls you made.
- Set a demanding bar for the work while coaching people through the sprints that follow.
- Build in recovery time after hard pushes and develop engineers who can lead their own engagements later.
- Grow from running a single pod toward developing leaders across several as 100X expands.
- Earn continued client work through what the team ships and how you lead, not through outbound sales.
Requirements8
- Hands-on history leading engineers and taking software or AI systems into production.
- Technical depth strong enough to judge the work yourself and make decisions that hold up.
- Current use of AI tools or agents to multiply your own output, paired with a skeptical eye for their mistakes.
- Ability to absorb context fast across business goals, workflows, data, and the people involved.
- Sharp questioning when the picture is incomplete or the requirements are thin.
- Clear written and spoken communication with US-based clients and engineers, including concise visual plans and candid risk updates.
- A track record of lifting a team's pace through coaching and ownership rather than pressure.
- Openness to feedback and a real interest in keeping the people doing the work healthy.
Who Should Apply
Engineering managers with production AI or software delivery behind them, fluent in Python and comfortable using agent tooling themselves. You can read a codebase, question a plan, and explain risk to a US client without hedging. Former consultants and engineers who moved into leadership fit well.
Salary Insight
The posted range runs $19,000 to $57,000 per year, which is wide enough to cover several experience bands. India-based engineering management roles with AI delivery ownership often land in this spread, with the top end going to managers who carry client relationships alongside the technical work.
