Overview

micro1 seeks a hands-on infrastructure engineer to own reliability, scalability, and observability while pushing toward AI-driven operations. You'll work across cloud infrastructure, deployment systems, monitoring, security, and incident response, building tools that let a small team move fast without sacrificing reliability. The role is deeply technical and assumes you already use AI coding agents to change how engineering work gets done. You'll help shape a future where infrastructure increasingly manages itself through AI agents and intelligent automation.

What You'll Do7

  • Design and implement AI-powered workflows for infrastructure provisioning, deployments, monitoring, incident detection, and automated remediation.
  • Architect resilient, secure, and scalable cloud infrastructure that supports rapidly evolving AI products and workloads.
  • Build comprehensive logging, metrics, distributed tracing, and alerting systems that give actionable visibility into production health.
  • Eliminate repetitive infrastructure work through intelligent automation, self-service tooling, and agent-driven operations.
  • Drive cloud security hygiene, dependency upgrades, runtime migrations, and infrastructure modernization from design through production.
  • Build infrastructure platforms and workflows that make deploying, debugging, and operating services effortless for engineers.
  • Mentor engineers, establish technical standards, and influence architectural decisions through hands-on technical leadership.

Requirements9

  • Staff-level engineering expertise with deep experience in Infrastructure, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Platform Engineering.
  • Strong hands-on experience operating production systems on major cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Expertise in infrastructure as code, container orchestration, CI/CD, networking, cloud security, and distributed systems.
  • Demonstrated experience designing observability and incident response systems for complex production environments.
  • Proven ownership of infrastructure migrations, security improvements, and reliability initiatives.
  • AI-native engineering habits: you already use AI coding agents extensively in your daily development workflow and have built automation that meaningfully reduces engineering toil.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and the ability to build internal tools, automation frameworks, and production-grade infrastructure services.
  • A track record of independently identifying systemic problems, designing solutions, and shipping them end to end.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and improving technical practices while remaining deeply involved in implementation.

Who Should Apply

This role suits a staff-level infrastructure engineer who has run complex production systems on AWS, GCP, or Azure and already uses AI coding agents to cut toil. You should have hands-on experience with infrastructure as code, container orchestration, observability, and incident response, plus a record of leading migrations and mentoring engineers while staying close to implementation.
