Overview
Shrine Development wants a senior QA analyst who owns quality across the whole delivery cycle instead of checking it at the end. You will read PRDs, Figma files and technical specs before code lands, flag what is unclear or untestable, and drive those gaps to a decision with product and engineering. Testing spans functional, integration, regression, system and exploratory work, tracked in Jira and TestRail. The team runs on Agile sprints, so release planning and retros sit inside your week, and junior analysts look to you for testing standards.
What You'll Do12
- Read PRDs, Figma designs, technical specs and process flows and judge whether each one is complete enough to test.
- Raise gaps, ambiguities and contradictions with stakeholders and see each one through to a decision.
- Run functional, integration, regression, system and exploratory passes end to end.
- Build the QA validation plan and test cases covering happy path, negative and edge scenarios tied to business and technical risk.
- Execute manual tests, record outcomes, then log, rank and follow every defect until it closes.
- Push root cause analysis on defects instead of stopping at the symptom.
- Give design feedback early and apply shift-left habits so problems surface before the build.
- Work alongside product managers, developers and DevOps through each stage of the SDLC.
- Join sprint ceremonies, release planning and retrospectives.
- Coach junior QA members and set the bar for testing practice across the team.
- Keep work aligned with organizational standards, security rules and regulatory obligations.
- Suggest changes to QA process and governance where the current approach falls short.
Requirements7
- 5+ years in quality assurance, including business or systems-focused QA work.
- Track record analyzing requirements and validating business processes.
- Skill at writing detailed test documentation and traceability matrices.
- Hands-on work with defect tracking and test management tools, Jira and TestRail among them.
- Solid grasp of the SDLC and Agile delivery methods.
- Experience validating APIs, databases and integrated systems.
- Strong analysis and documentation skills, plus the ability to explain technical detail in business terms to non-engineers.
Preferred Qualifications3
- Familiarity with automation concepts, without needing to build the frameworks.
- Exposure to AI-assisted testing tools.
- Background in regulated or high-compliance settings where risk management and traceability matter.
Who Should Apply
The right person has five or more years in QA, reads a spec the way a tester should, and enjoys catching ambiguity before it turns into a bug. You have validated APIs and databases, kept traceability matrices current, and mentored analysts who are still learning the craft.
Salary Insight
Pay runs $23 to $31 USD per hour on a contractor engagement, remote from Costa Rica. That band matches senior-level manual QA work that carries requirement analysis and mentoring duties, so candidates with API and database validation experience should aim toward the top of the range.
