Overview
Turing, a research accelerator for frontier AI labs, needs a Software Engineer to build datasets and evaluate AI-generated code for full-stack applications. You will work with Python and JavaScript (React, Node.js), plus languages like C/C++, Java, Rust, and Go, to curate examples, correct code, and design verification mechanisms. The role involves hypothesizing on software engineering cycle steps and assessing model capabilities on tasks such as prototyping, architecture design, and API implementation. This is a flexible contractor position requiring at least 10 hours per week, for up to 40 hours, with an initial one-month term and possible extension.
What You'll Do6
- Curate code examples and provide precise solutions across Python and JavaScript (React, Node.js), with additional work in C/C++, Java, Rust, and Go.
- Evaluate and refine AI-generated code for efficiency, scalability, and reliability in backend and frontend contexts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve AI-driven coding solutions against industry performance benchmarks.
- Build agents that verify code quality and identify error patterns across full-stack applications.
- Hypothesize on steps in the software engineering cycle and evaluate model capabilities on them.
- Design verification mechanisms that automatically verify solutions to software engineering tasks.
Requirements5
- 3+ years of software engineering experience.
- Strong expertise in building full-stack applications using Python and JavaScript (React, Node.js), with the ability to work across backend and frontend codebases.
- Experience deploying scalable, production-grade software using modern languages and tools.
- Deep understanding of software architecture, design, development, debugging, and code quality/review assessment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for clear, structured evaluation rationales.
Who Should Apply
Candidates with at least three years of full-stack experience in Python and JavaScript (React, Node.js) who have deployed production-grade software and can assess code quality. The role suits engineers who can communicate structured evaluation rationales and are interested in AI model training and verification.
