Overview

Turing is hiring a Software Engineering evaluator to build datasets for training and benchmarking large language models. You will work with Python, C/C++, Rust, Go, Java, and JavaScript (including ReactJS) to curate code examples, correct AI-generated code, and design verification mechanisms. The role focuses on systems-level code, performance-critical applications, and infrastructure, with close collaboration with researchers and cross-functional teams. This is a remote contractor position open to US-based candidates, requiring 10–40 hours per week for an initial one-month term.

What You'll Do6

  • Curate and build code examples in Python, C/C++, Rust, Go, Java, and JavaScript (including ReactJS) for AI model training.
  • Refine AI-generated code with attention to systems-level correctness, performance, and reliability.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to improve AI-driven coding solutions against industry performance benchmarks.
  • Build agents that verify the quality of systems-level and infrastructure code and spot error patterns.
  • Form hypotheses about stages of the software engineering cycle (prototyping, architecture design, API design, production implementation, launch, experiments, monitoring, operational maintenance) and assess model capabilities on them.
  • Design automated verification mechanisms for solutions to software engineering tasks.

Requirements6

  • 3+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Strong expertise in systems programming, infrastructure, or backend development using languages such as Python, C/C++, Rust, and Go.
  • Experience building and deploying scalable, production-grade software with modern languages and tools.
  • Deep understanding of software architecture, design, development, debugging, and code quality/review assessment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for clear, structured evaluation rationales.
  • Candidates must be based in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications2

  • Experience at high-scale engineering organizations like Google, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, or Meta.
  • Graduation from programs with strong CS foundations such as University of Washington, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, UT Austin, University of Michigan, or Purdue.

Who Should Apply

The role suits engineers with 3+ years of production experience in systems, infrastructure, or backend development. Candidates who have worked at high-scale tech companies or hold strong CS degrees from top programs will stand out. If you enjoy code review, performance tuning, and shaping how AI models learn to code, apply.
