Overview
Turing, a research accelerator for frontier AI labs, seeks a Software Engineering evaluator to build datasets that train and benchmark large language models. Your core work centers on Python across backend services, data pipelines, and ML infrastructure, with additional tasks in JavaScript (including ReactJS), C/C++, Java, Rust, and Go. You will refine AI-generated code for efficiency and reliability, and create automated verification agents that check software engineering tasks. The contract runs one month with possible extensions, and you must reside in the United States. Expect a flexible schedule between 10 and 40 hours per week.
What You'll Do7
- Curate code examples, craft solutions, and repair code as part of AI model training initiatives, mainly in Python and also in JavaScript (with ReactJS), C/C++, Java, Rust, and Go.
- Assess and improve AI-generated code to confirm it is efficient, scalable, and dependable.
- Team up with cross-functional groups to sharpen AI-driven coding tools against established performance benchmarks.
- Build agents and automated verification tools in Python that check code quality and surface error patterns.
- Form hypotheses about steps within the software engineering cycle (prototyping, architecture design, API design, production implementation, launch, experiments, monitoring, operational maintenance) and test model capabilities on those steps.
- Design verification mechanisms that automatically confirm correct solutions to software engineering tasks.
- Write clear, structured rationales that explain each evaluation decision.
Requirements6
- At least 3 years of software engineering experience.
- Strong Python expertise, including deep familiarity with frameworks, tooling, and best practices for production-grade software.
- Background building full-stack applications and deploying scalable software with modern languages and tools.
- Solid grasp of software architecture, design, development, debugging, and code quality/review assessment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for documenting evaluation rationales.
- Candidates must be based in the United States.
Who Should Apply
Candidates with three or more years of software engineering experience, especially those who have worked at frontier AI companies or hold strong CS foundations from top programs. The role suits engineers comfortable with Python, full-stack deployment, and code review who can explain their reasoning in writing. Exceptional skill and experience take precedence over pedigree.
