Overview
Etsy wants someone to launch Etsy Success on TikTok from a blank page, then run the channel as its owner. The freelance contract starts November 3, 2026 and runs through May 3, 2027, with a hybrid schedule tied to the Brooklyn office. You set the content pillars and voice, then film and cut the short-form video yourself, mixing seller education, milestone celebrations, event recaps, and trend responses. TikTok, video editing, and seller storytelling sit at the center of the work, and footage from markets and seller activations feeds much of the output.
What You'll Do10
- Launch the Etsy Success TikTok channel, setting its purpose, positioning, and go-to-market plan without an inherited playbook.
- Define content pillars that guide sellers through practical insights, milestone celebrations, and peer connection while staying native to the platform.
- Concept, film, and edit a high volume of polished short-form video on your own, from first idea to final cut.
- Set the experimentation agenda for the first 6 to 12 months and shape a roadmap for the next phase, reading engagement and learning signals rather than follower counts.
- Build repeatable production workflows so output stays consistent at pace without losing voice or quality.
- Brief external creators, contractors, and seller collaborators, keeping their work aligned to Etsy's tone and creative vision.
- Track trends, sounds, and cultural moments as they surface, then decide where participation serves the brand and where to sit one out.
- Cover Etsy seller markets and events in real time, producing same-day or next-day recaps plus pre-event build-up.
- Recruit and spotlight sellers, capturing their stories with care alongside Community programming such as Etsy Up Close, IRL markets, and the Etsy Design Awards.
- Report on channel performance, share learnings, and support product and feature launches with Product Marketing, Comms, Creative, and Insights.
Requirements9
- Independent video editing skill: take raw footage and deliver a polished, on-brand short-form cut unaided.
- Native fluency in TikTok and Gen Z culture, covering sounds, formats, and platform behaviors.
- A track record of launching a channel, brand, or content franchise from scratch, or comfort building the plan and the content without a template.
- Strong taste in short-form craft, including pacing, sound, editing style, and visual storytelling, plus the judgment to balance trend work with long-term brand building.
- Genuine empathy for makers and small business owners and an instinct for telling their stories in a human way.
- The ability to cover an event live, turn footage around fast, and make people who were not there feel connected.
- Self-management across several concurrent workstreams without dropping quality or drifting off-voice.
- Clear communication with a lean social team and cross-functional partners.
- Roughly 3 to 5 years in social media or content, with demonstrated TikTok craft, editing ability, and taste weighted above years on paper.
Preferred Qualifications4
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
- Experience with seller-, creator-, or SMB-facing content rather than purely consumer-brand social.
- Comfort filming and directing yourself and others, and briefing external creators.
- Familiarity with education-led or community-driven content.
Who Should Apply
A hands-on short-form creator who has built a channel or content franchise before and can edit polished TikTok video alone from day one. You read Gen Z culture natively and care about telling small business owners' stories with respect.
Salary Insight
The role pays $60 to $69 per hour on a six-month freelance contract, with an option to extend. That band fits mid-level social and content specialists with roughly 3 to 5 years of experience plus proven editing ability, and the final offer depends on location and terms.
