Overview

Etsy wants a senior program manager to own how survey research runs across the company, not just run individual studies. The role centers on building a system where more researchers can launch and manage their own surveys while quality, privacy, and compliance standards hold. Day to day you will shape Qualtrics setup, permissions, and workflows, build sample lists with SQL, and write the playbook, templates, and training that let others work independently. You also partner with Legal and Privacy on GDPR, CCPA, and PII handling, and track a pilot that gives experienced product researchers room to run surveys on their own.

What You'll Do10

  • Configure and maintain enterprise survey platforms such as Qualtrics, covering user permissions, access rules, and repeatable workflows.
  • Stand up a single tracking system that shows every planned, active, and finished survey across the company.
  • Define contact frequency rules so Etsy buyers and sellers do not receive too many survey invitations.
  • Build audience and sample lists in SQL, run exclusion checks, and prepare samples for fielding.
  • Work with Legal and Privacy teams to keep surveys aligned with GDPR, CCPA, consent, and PII requirements, and write procedures for handling concerns that come up.
  • Author a survey research playbook with step-by-step instructions, templates, quality checklists, and onboarding materials.
  • Coach researchers on designing, launching, monitoring, and managing their own surveys.
  • Set quality standards and decide when a study needs extra approval or hands-on support.
  • Track the pilot program for experienced product researchers, report results, and recommend how far it should scale.
  • Test AI tools and automation that reduce manual effort in survey operations.

Requirements9

  • Five or more years in survey research and research operations.
  • Hands-on ownership of surveys from questionnaire design through sampling, programming, analysis, and reporting.
  • Working knowledge of Qualtrics or a comparable enterprise survey platform.
  • SQL skills strong enough to build sample lists, manage audience data, and run exclusion checks.
  • A track record of setting up survey processes, running research programs, and building operational workflows.
  • Familiarity with data privacy rules, including GDPR, CCPA, consent, and PII handling.
  • Strong documentation habits: playbooks, training guides, and standardized processes.
  • Program and project management experience with cross-functional partners.
  • Experience applying AI tools or automation to research workflows.

Preferred Qualifications4

  • R or Python
  • Building a survey operations program from scratch
  • Supporting UX research, product research, or market research teams
  • Implementing AI-powered research tools

Who Should Apply

Survey methodologists who have also built the operations behind a research program. You have run quantitative studies yourself and set up the platforms, governance, and training that let other researchers do the same. Qualtrics and SQL feel routine, and privacy review is part of your process.
