micro1 is seeking an experienced FreeCAD Mechanical Engineer for a unique contractor role: helping train next-generation AI systems. Your deep expertise in parametric CAD modeling, GD&T, and DFM will directly shape how AI models learn and reason about real-world engineering problems. This fully remote position focuses on creating precise models, assemblies, and technical drawings — no prior AI background required.
What You'll Do7
- 1Build, edit, and validate detailed parametric CAD models using FreeCAD based on project specifications.
- 2Design and refine mechanical assemblies, applying best practices for component integration and assembly logic.
- 3Implement rigorous Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to ensure designs are both accurate and production-ready.
- 4Produce clear, comprehensive technical drawings and documentation for engineering review and downstream use.
- 5Conduct thorough engineering QA on CAD models and drawings — identifying issues, documenting findings, and suggesting improvements.
- 6Leverage Python scripting to automate repetitive or complex modeling tasks (highly preferred, not mandatory).
- 7Collaborate remotely by offering constructive feedback on model accuracy, design intent, and process optimizations.
Requirements6
- 12+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical engineering, product design, or industrial engineering with a focus on parametric CAD modeling.
- 2Expert-level proficiency in FreeCAD or equivalent parametric CAD platforms.
- 3Strong grasp of mechanical design fundamentals, including GD&T and DFM best practices.
