Overview
micro1 seeks Senior Advanced NDT and Imaging Specialists for a customer's advanced inspection and data interpretation project. You will apply your domain expertise to help train next-generation AI systems, shaping how models learn and reason from real-world inspection data. The role is contractor-based, about 10 hours per week, with a flexible schedule you control, including weekends if you prefer. No prior AI experience is needed; your NDT knowledge is what matters.
What You'll Do6
- Interpret diverse NDT data sets, including industrial CT volumes, X-ray images, ultrasonic scans, shearography data, and fiber optic inspection records.
- Write detailed assessments and dispositions for inspection records, explaining findings and the rationale behind each decision.
- Provide feedback on imaging quality, detection limits, and potential false positives or negatives in complex inspection scenarios.
- Apply standards knowledge (ASNT, NAS 410, EN 4179) to ensure evaluations align with industry best practices and regulatory compliance.
- Document expert recommendations and insights to support annotation, labeling, and model development tasks.
- Collaborate asynchronously through clear written and verbal communications to refine project deliverables and address technical queries.
Requirements7
- 7+ years of advanced experience in NDT, with Level II or Level III certifications in industrial CT, X-ray, ultrasonic, shearography, or fiber optic inspection.
- Proven track record interpreting real-world inspection data in industries such as aerospace, nuclear, automotive, battery, composites, or tire manufacturing.
- ASNT, NAS 410, or EN 4179 certification (required).
- Expertise in specialist imaging modalities, including EPRI-qualified nuclear UT analysis, composite and battery inspection, or tire NDT.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting findings and collaborating remotely.
- Attention to detail and a methodical approach to technical evaluations and reporting.
- Familiarity with digital platforms or remote collaboration tools is a plus.
Who Should Apply
The ideal candidate holds Level II or III NDT certifications and has at least seven years of hands-on experience interpreting industrial CT, X-ray, ultrasonic, shearography, or fiber optic data. You have worked in demanding sectors like aerospace, nuclear, or battery manufacturing and can explain your findings in clear written reports. If you meet the certification requirements and enjoy detailed technical analysis, this role fits.
