Member of Technical Staff, Forward Deployed (US Gov) | $40-$60/hr Remote
Overview
This role places you at the intersection of cutting-edge AI and critical U.S. Government missions. As a Member of Technical Staff, you’ll design, build, and deploy agentic AI systems that move from prototype to production in high-assurance environments. You’ll work closely with government partners, owning the full lifecycle of systems that turn mission data into operational autonomy.
What You'll Do6
- 1Create and roll out autonomous AI agents tailored for high-impact government operations, handling everything from early prototyping to live deployment.
- 2Develop and integrate LLM-powered applications like multi-agent systems, tool-using agents, RAG pipelines, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
- 3Collaborate directly with government stakeholders in forward-deployed settings to translate mission requirements into technical solutions.
- 4Build and maintain large-scale data curation and evaluation pipelines to continuously improve model training and performance.
- 5Set up infrastructure for model inference, experimentation, evaluation, and deployment across leading AI platforms.
- 6Take end-to-end ownership of systems—from discovery and architecture through implementation, reliability, security, and iteration.
Requirements6
- 1Proven ability to work independently in ambiguous, customer-facing environments with strong technical and operational ownership.
- 2Deep expertise in Python and a track record of shipping production systems end-to-end.
- 3Hands-on experience building LLM-based agentic systems, including orchestrating multi-step reasoning and tool use.
- 4Experience constructing and maintaining data pipelines or ML infrastructure in production settings.
- 5Familiarity with reinforcement learning (RL) workflows or simulation environments.
- 6Comfort operating in high-security, high-reliability contexts, such as government or defense.
Who Should Apply
You’re a maker who thrives on ambiguity—someone who can walk into a mission-critical setting, grasp complex problems, and build solutions on the spot. You have a solid foundation in Python and LLMs, and you’re excited to work directly with government end-users. If you’ve navigated startup speed or defense-grade reliability (ideally both) and are ready to apply AI where it truly matters, this is your role.
Salary Insight
The role offers an hourly rate of $40–$60/hr, plus equity compensation, performance-based bonuses, up to 100% reimbursement for health-insurance premiums, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan with company match.
