Mechanical Engineering Expert for AI Training and Analysis
Overview
Senior mechanical engineer needed for a remote contractor role focused on advancing AI-assisted mechanical design and analysis. You will apply deep domain knowledge to train next generation AI systems by providing precise, real-world input on design, analysis, and R&D challenges. The project values technical clarity in both written and spoken form and requires collaboration with a distributed team. You will work on evaluating AI-generated technical outputs and contributing engineering insight to improve AI reasoning in mechanical topics. Bolded technologies: FEA, Statics/Dynamics, Thermodynamics.
What You'll Do7
- 1Solve advanced mechanical engineering problems spanning design, structural and thermal analysis, and R&D tasks.
- 2Assess the technical correctness and quality of AI-produced engineering responses.
- 3Apply practical engineering judgment to real-world design scenarios and theoretical questions.
- 4Analyze and troubleshoot mechanical systems using industry techniques like FEA, statics/dynamics, thermo, and vibration analysis.
- 5Provide domain expertise to guide model improvements and refine AI reasoning in mechanical engineering.
- 6Document feedback with clear written and verbal explanations to boost AI learning outcomes.
- 7Collaborate remotely with a distributed team of experts and project participants.
Requirements6
- 1MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, or a BS with 8+ years of relevant industry experience.
- 2At least 5 years in mechanical design, analysis, or R&D.
- 3Strong knowledge of statics/dynamics, thermodynamics, FEA, and vibration/structural analysis.
- 4Proven ability to analyze complex mechanical systems using finite element methods, hand calculations, and experimental validation.
- 5Familiarity with ASME BPVC and related reliability-focused design practices.
- 6Excellent written and spoken English communication.
Who Should Apply
The ideal candidate brings hands-on expertise in design, analysis, or R&D and can validate AI-driven technical outputs. This role is less suitable for someone without deep mechanical engineering experience in design, analysis, or testing. Candidates with limited exposure to FEA tools like ANSYS, Abaqus, or Nastran may score lower. Strong preference for those with published work, competition leadership, or professional recognition in ASME or related bodies.
Salary Insight
Compensation is task-based; pay is determined per completed, compliant task with minimum weekly submission requirements. A specific hourly rate is not listed and pay is discussed later in the process.
